It's taken a little while for Rebels & Rulers to arrive here in the West. Originally known as Latent Dragon in China, the smartphone MMORPG has let over 5 million people engage in a sweeping martial arts epic, and now the game is about to be released for English-speaking users.
There's really no way of getting around the fact that Jewel Story is Puzzle Quest on Facebook. Which means that it's a fairly generic fantasy role playing game where the combat has been replaced with a turn-based version of Bejeweled. It may not do anything particularly new with the formula but, aside from a few niggling little issues, it's a solid and enjoyable way to get your match-3 RPG fix.
Just like its Facebook counterpart, the mobile version of MinoMonsters is simply a Pokemon game that isn't developed by Nintendo. Actually, simple is a good way to describe the game, as much of the complexity that Nintendo's series is known for has been stripped away. A little bit of sorcery has come to iOS today in the form of the newly released SpellCraft from Appy. A role-playing game of sorts, the title combines elements of the older, core-gaming genre with those more reminiscent to the mobile and social spaces, such as moderate "farming." Though somewhat basic, it marks a nice change of pace from the constant deluge of simulation applications.
Like the rest of the gaming world, Infinity Blade knocked our collective socks off when it came out in December 2010. One year, a few updates, and a novella later, Chair Entertainment has unleashed the first full on sequel to the App Store. But is Infinity Blade II really the follow up we were all hoping it could be?
They say the dogs of war never sleep, but some dogs are best left lying. Gamevil takes a stab at freemium gaming on iOS, but playing through Last War is like fighting a losing battle.
