I've developed a kind of love/hate relationship with iOS action RPGs over the years. They're typically fun but have some incredibly dull stories. Or they look absolutely gorgeous but control poorly. It's always something. Sword of Inferno is no different in that "stuff" holds it back from perfection just like all the others, but the core game is far too fantastic for me to really care about that.
Apocalyptics expert Tycho and devil-fighter Gabe are back for their series' epic conclusion in Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 4. This fourth and final entry into the duo's retro-RPG shenanigans will take place in the Underhell, where the party has been sent after the epic final battle of Rain-Slick 3.
House of Hell was unquestionably one of the most unusual and memorable of the original Fighting Fantasy gamebook series. First published in 1985, its modern-day horror setting stood out amongst a sea of generic fantasy and science fiction stablemates. That's likely in part why Tin Man Games has chosen to make it this, tenth in the original line-up, the second of their Fighting Fantasy iOS releases.
NimbleBit has been pretty busy in the months since the release of their insanely popular mobile titles Tiny Tower, Pocket Frogs, and most recently Pocket Planes. But they've been quietly teasing their latest project since last Halloween, and now we finally have a name and some concrete details about what this powerhouse developer has in store for us next.
Having spent much of my youth in spooky dungeons (it's a long story), I know a thing or two about how to defeat monsters. While some may argue that stabbing them with a sword is the proper way to go about it, that couldn't be further from the truth. The pen is mightier than the sword, as Crunching Koalas' upcoming game WordTrap Dungeon—currently playable in its pre-alpha state—will soon teach you.
Not sure if you've noticed, but game developers are spending a lot of time trying to get more "serious" or "hardcore" games onto Facebook even though the people who normally play these games don't seem too interested. Eventually, though, one of these games is going to turn a lot of heads, and it might be ChronoBlade, an arcade-style beat-em up coming soon to a browser near you.
Medal Wars: Keisers Revenge is rather crude. Take your average British "Carry On" film, skew it just that little bit too far in the wrong direction, and that's roughly where the humor in this world war shooter sits. Regular mentions of women's "jugs" and pixelated flesh may well put you off from the get-go.
Dragons have assumed a lot of different roles in fictional works. Sometimes they're good guys—Pete's Dragon, DragonHeart—and sometimes, such as in The Hobbit, they're downright malicious. The upcoming Dragon Bane for iOS resides in the latter camp, tossing players into a world filled with angry dragons and other dangers. Sounds like a great place to honeymoon.
