    When DrawRace came out all the way back in 2009, I instantly fell in love with it. Combining line drawing and strategy with top down racing was a formula that just couldn't be beat. And yet for all the fun I had with DrawRace, there was no denying that it felt like a fairly barebones package. Almost as if it were a brilliant idea, but nobody had bothered to flesh it out beyond their initial stroke of genius. DrawRace 2, it would seem, addresses my complaint nicely.

    As a 34 year old man I can pretty confidently say I've both been playing games my entire life and that the videogame industry basically started when I did. So when I play a new game and instantly start thinking about the games in the past, it's not because I think it's derivative. Far from it. It's just that I know games are about iteration, and building on what came before. That's a long way to say that I both enjoy Drag Racing for what it is and where it came from.

    One of the harshest criticisms any gamer can level at a game is, "The level design stinks!" The best games answer those armchair designers with the ability to use their tools and see what they can do. Some of the greatest games, particularly in the first-person shooter category, stemmed from those home-grown efforts. Dream Track Nation also allows you to create your own tracks, and gives you a good set to try, but falls over itself a few times in an attempt to be great.

    The name Sonic the Hedgehog is synonymous with gaming. Back in the 1990s, it was Sega's answer to Nintendo's Mario. He was everything Mario wasn't: fast, cool and hip. Of course within a decade, Sega stopped making gaming consoles and started making Sonic games for Nintendo's systems. Despite this, Sega still tries to put him in the same league as Mario. With its almost shameless Mario Kart ripoff of Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, Sega does a really commendable job. But just like the rest of Sonic's games, it's just not as good as Mario's.
