Dachinko Preview
By Erin Bell
Gamecask has a fun looking pachinko-like game in the works called Dachinko. We're not sure what the significance is of swapping the "P" with a "D" but hopefully all will be revealed in the fullness of time.Inner Quest Review
South Wind Games, creators of the addictive Airport Mania, have decided to try their luck with a tried-and-true puzzle formula that's both accessible and entertaining for players of all ages. Inner Quest tackles the mission with ease and takes us on a new journey that's full of enticing levels and aims to fill our minds with positive thoughts.Helsing’s Fire Review
By Ryan Kuo
The problem with apps is that most sacrifice substance for style. Flawed mechanics and flat gameplay are easily forgiven when you touch the screen and make beautiful things happen. Helsing's Fire is the first iPhone game from Ratloop, and its stylish exterior makes it an easy sell. But Ratloop, the developer behind the excellent indie Rocketbirds: Revolution!, aims to fill that shell with strategic depth and a genuinely interesting mechanic. In the end, though, Helsing's Fire still leans more heavily on being attractive.iSlice: Cut it Up! Review
By Jon Mundy
Like some kind of abstract sheep-herding simulator, iSlice sees you reducing the area a bunch of perpetually bouncing balls have to move around in, without cutting off or colliding with any of them in the process. If that sounds a little familiar, you're either old enough to remember Qix at the arcade or sensible enough to have played Dr. Awesome on iPhone. In either case, iSlice is sufficiently different to warrant a closer look.Piyo Blocks 2 Review
By Ryan Kuo
The cutest match-3 game on the App Store, Piyo Blocks, hardly needed a sequel. It seemed already complete, offering simple yet compulsive gameplay and a fully-formed aesthetic. Piyo Blocks 2 initially seems like an advertisement for Piyo Blocks 2 HD, the new iPad edition that features redone visuals and a simultaneous two-player mode. As it turns out, it's a valuable new expansion. Big Pixel has tweaked the game in small but significant ways.Turba Review
By Jon Mundy
Match-three puzzlers always used to be such dependably sensible games. Then Lumines came along and introduced pumping techno music and striking laser-show visuals to the mix, and poor old Tetris had to go for a lie down. Turba looks to add to this funky sub-genre with the twist of being able to add your own music into the mix.Pirates Ahoy Preview
By Alicia Ashby
Playfish is rarely a company content to just clone a competitor's game. Instead, you can expect Playfish to add some sort of twist or extra feature to their entry in a genre. For Playfish's new treasure-hunting game, Pirates Ahoy!, the company has added a pirate theme complete with a customizable ship, an island stronghold, and monsters to fight.Rubik’s Cube Review
Hey there friend, do you wish you could always have a Rubik's Cube on hand in case of unforeseen doldrums, but don't want the unsightly bulge in your back pocket from carrying it around? Are you a fan of cube shaped shifting color puzzles but are horribly allergic to plastic? Want a toy from our childhood that most played with once and then found its way into the closet collecting dust? Well in that case, have I got a deal for you!
