Platforming games are a dime a dozen. It's one of the older genres in gaming history and as a result, it's been done to death. But every now and then, a company finds ways to introduce inventive gameplay twists that really make a game shine. CreaVures does not do that. I wanted to like this game because the design is unique and the CreaVures themselves are charming, but sadly, this game falls short in too many ways to ignore.
If you need proof that mobile gaming is pioneering great new ideas in gaming, look no further than Mecapix. The only way to describe it is a combination of Space Invaders and Tetris, but playing it is the only way to do it justice. The review in a nutshell: Just go buy it already.
Everyone has their turn-ons: Foreign accents, intelligence, a Swiss bank account. Or, of course, decapitated cyborgs. In d-capitatrix, a bevy of curvy robot vixens seductively ask for your help recovering their missing noggins. Hips will swing and heads will, literally, roll.
What was once a peaceful and prosperous kingdom is now a barren wasteland. The fertile fields were destroyed by the Evil Forces and everyone lives in fear. The brave knight, Bladarash, rode out to vanquish them but, alas, disappeared without a trace. In despair, the king sent out a message asking for one brave hero (or heroine, as the case may be) to finish what Bladarash had started and restore the kingdom to prosperity. You'll take up the challenge in Herofy, using your match-3 skills to overcome all obstacles.
Red Ball 3 is a logic puzzle game from Chillingo and Red Ball Studio for the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. You play as a red ball that is out to retrieve his blue damsel in distress. The puzzles can sometimes be very difficult, but luckily Gamezebo's quick start guide is here to provide you with all the tips, tricks and solutions you'll need to have your damsel back in no time.
Lucid, the latest color-matching puzzle game from YeaBoing, doesn't exactly do anything wrong, with your usual match-2+ action accompanied by a couple of extra twists to the formula, but there's nothing that could really be described as exciting or fresh either. With a single game mode to play through and barely any variation throughout, there isn't much reason to play this game over the plethora of match-3 titles already available.
By now, we've all likely played our fair share of games that involve little more than "collect 3 stars and finish the level." This isn't to say that Red Ball 3 is an awful game, but it is certainly lacking in functionality at the very least.
Imagine a combination of pool, Tetris and Taco Bell. Okay, so it's not exactly the most natural of combinations, but Donut Games managed to figure it out and made Mexiball. It's a unique puzzle game with a Mexican flair that manages to eke out something new and exciting for the iPhone and iPad.
