Scoops: Ice Cream Fun For Everyone Review
By Lisa Cowdell
When I was in high school, my first job was scooping ice cream in a little shop called Blum's. It was my dream job. What could be more fun than scooping ice cream all day? And you could always get a free ice cream whenever you wanted. Ice cream is definitely one of my key comfort foods. So, when I saw there was an ice cream-based iPhone game called Scoops - Ice Cream Fun For Everyone, I knew I just had to indulge myself.Rolando Review
By Lisa Cowdell
I remember playing Super Mario Bros. for the first time on my family's Nintendo console. My reaction was, "Why do I care about this little Italian plumber?" Maybe it was the way he stared at me, waiting to be moved along in his quest to save the princess. Maybe it was the surprised and disappointed look on his pixelated face when I accidentally dropped him off a cliff. Whatever it was, it didn't take long for me to become completely engaged and addicted to caring about what happened to Mario and his friends. Is that possible in a game you play on your iPhone? It is indeed. In fact, Rolando is so much fun and so well designed, that it is hard to not to call it the perfect iPhone game.Tumbledrop Review
The iPhone certainly has seen more than its fair share of physics-based block games, but none of them explode with cuteness and lovable personality quite like Tumbledrop. For a game that started out as a free flash demo, this brilliantly simple and intensely fun puzzle game couldn't be possibly be any better suited for Apple's portable touch-screen platform. Sending smiling little block creatures tumbling to their watery doom with a tap of your finger is a disarmingly cheerful task.Learn To Fly Review
All I need to tell you about Learn to Fly is the basic premise, and you are in. Ready? Here goes: You play as a penguin, who after reading on Wikipedia about how his species can't fly, is hellbent on learning how to fly, via sledding and rockets and gliders.Labyrinth Review
By Lisa Cowdell
When I was a kid growing up in the 60's and 70's, we didn't have video games to keep us entertained. Instead, we played hide n' seek or freeze tag, and card games and board games when we couldn't go outside. My dad loved "coffee table" games that were not only attractive (they were usually constructed out of wood and polished steel) but also fun and challenging. I remember playing Labyrinth for hours, trying to navigate the little steel ball into the "goal" at the end without letting the ball fall into one of the trap holes.BridgeCraft Review
By Jim Squires
For countless eons, mankind was trapped by the superiority of nature. Chasms, canyons, rivers -- we simply had no way to cross. Then, one day, our ancestors invented that all-important construct to help us cross the obstacles of the natural world with ease: the bridge. Thanks to BridgeCraft, you too can get your hands dirty building bridges like a real steel worker.Angry Birds Review
By David Stone
LOL. You type it out, but how often do you actually mean it? Fire up Angry Birds, and if there isn't a real life laugh-out-loud happening as you fling your first fast-flying fowl, then you need surgery on your funny bone.Gravity Hook HD Preview
By Jim Squires
Adam Atomic and Daniel Barnowsky may be household names in the indie community thanks to their relatively recent success with Canabalt, but the popular survival platformer wasn't the pair's first collaboration. They'll be revisiting their roots this spring, re-inventing their first game from the ground up for iPhone. Gravity Hook HD is the story of a robot, a grappling hook, and an infinite amount of space to climb.
