Tower Wars manages to capture a particular essence of tower defence games that others in the genre so often fail to achieve - glorious, hectic panic. There's never a moment in this game, even from the initial whistle blow, in which you're not scrambling around trying to send off more troops, upgrade some towers, or hire more people for your mines.And here's the rub; the thing that makes Tower Wars really work: you're doing all of this against fellow humans.

Enter AviNation, a charming Facebook game that lets you direct and control classic planes from the '30s. Unfortunately, crippling bugs and issues stunt its overall playability.

Generally speaking, gems are awesome. They're shiny, beautiful, and often valuable. Furthermore, they show up in more puzzle games than I care to count. Such is the case with Zynga's Gems With Friends, a title that shares more than a cursory resemblance to the average match-3. But despite the visual parity, there's plenty more to the game than matching same-colored pieces.
