    Minecraft: Pocket Edition hits 10 million sales, massive update incoming

    If you haven't been living under a pixelated block these past few years, then chances are good you're familiar with Minecraft. The game has taken the world by storm, and inspired players far and wide to construct massive, elaborate constructions out of humble squares. To that end, the mobile version, Minecraft: Pocket Edition, just surpassed the 10 million sales mark, and Mojang has announced plans to update the game with a flurry of new content.

    Minecraft - Pocket Edition was a long time coming to mobile devices. But when it finally arrived, it wasn't really what people wanted, including a general lack of content and being saddled with limitations thanks to said devices' hardware. Despite this, developer Mojang promised lots of stuff with updates and then … nothing. There's been a lot of silence from that end about when folks could expect the patch, but Mojang's finally announced a definite date.

    Just the other day, I was saying to some of my co-workers here at Gamezebo what a bummer it was that Minecraft - Pocket Edition was only available on the Android-powered Xperia Play. As is often the case, the universe seems to have picked up on my complaint and addressed it with due haste. Developer Mojang has just announced that the game will be coming to other Android handsets on September 29th, and should make an appearance on iOS devices before the end of the year.
