In its original incarnation, Pixel Ranger was one of those games that I nursed a quiet addiction to for months. A Facebook game offering level after level or endless twitch shooting, all wrapped in a glowing retro style, it seemed as though Pixel Ranger was custom-made for my sensibilities. Now, a few years later, the game has made its way to the iPhone courtesy of Chillingo and the game's original developer, MetroGames. But not everything in the Wild West is as it once was.
With a diverse line-up of social and mobile games that includes titles like Tea4Friends, Auto Hustle, and Fashion World, Metrogames boasts nearly six million monthly active users worldwide, and that's on Facebook aline. And with headquarters in Buenos Aires, Argentina, it's also part of one of the fastest growing regions in gaming. In this latest edition of Gamezebo Cribs we head into the offices of Metrogames to see what the game development studio looks like on the inside.
Social games aren't just blowing up in North America, they're taking over the world. And that includes our neighbors to the south. With headquarters in Buenos Aires, MetroGames—the studio behind Facebook hits like Fashion World—is able to see first hand just how social gaming is growing in South America. Gamezebo recently had the chance to chat with CEO & founder Damian Harburger about the state of the industry, as well what we can expect next from Metro.
