    If you haven't heard of King.com yet, you must not be playing Facebook games in 2012. The company has shot through the ranks to become a top competitor in the social games space recently, duking it out with the likes of Zynga and wooga on a daily basis. With such meteoric success, it's no surprise to hear that the company is expanding. They've just announced a new London-based studio, and they've tapped a pretty notable name in social games to head it up.

    There was a time that now seems eons ago when games were one-off affairs for which the published package reigned supreme. Consumers bought a title, such as Super Mario Bros., gleefully cracked it open and played it until they couldn't bear another jaunt through the super mushroom kingdom. More than just a case of fungus overload, the game, played repeatedly until there were no more challenges to master, soon would become a tired title eclipsed by the latest gaming sensation.

    News has just broken that Facebook power-player King.com has acquired mobile developer Fabrication Games in an effort to establish a presence on iOS and Android devices. Don't feel bad if you don't recognize the Fabrication name, they're a smaller studio (only 12 employees) based in Sweden. The company has published a few smaller-scale games such as Bugfest and The Game Trail, but are still looking for their first big App Store hit.
