    The inspirations behind The Banner Saga [interview]

    The Banner Saga is an upcoming turn-based strategy game for PC and Mac, but its existence symbolizes much more than that. When the studio behind the title, Stoic, initiated a Kickstarter for The Banner Saga, it had initially hoped to raise the $100,000 necessary for the game's development and distribution. The Banner Saga has since been funded nearly five times over, with almost $473,000 pledged via Stoic's Kickstarter.

    There are only a handful of game designers who can really be called a master of their trade, but as the mind behind the classic Gabriel Knight graphic adventures in the 90's, Jane Jensen is unquestionably amongst them. Over the last decade she's spent a fair bit of time creating hidden object games with Oberon Media, a company she co-founded, but as of this morning Jensen has announced a plan to return to her roots.

    Buzz Monkey isn't your average casual game developer. They've developed AAA titles with the likes of EA, Activision, and Eidos, and are headlined by the simple phrase: "We make games. We are, in fact, quite good at it". Considering their past releases, we were a bit surprised to find them venturing into the depths of mobile gaming, but their iOS puzzle platformer contains the same passion and effort as their console releases.

    The annual Game Developer's Conference took place in San Francisco earlier this month, and as always, dished up a whirlwind of game announcements and other exciting news. One studio that happened to be on hand was Montreal's Gamerizon, better known as the team behind the popular Chop Chop series. They were there to show off their upcoming sequel Chop Chop Ninja World, but while chatting with Gamezebo, there was another announcement they were keen to let us in on. As it turns out, a Chop Chop Ninja cartoon series is in the works for the Canadian cartoon network Teletoon.
