    8 Indie Platformers Featured In Latest Humble Weekly Bundle

    Launched just a few days ago, the latest Humble Weekly Bundle features eight platformers for $10. As always, portions of the proceeds from the bundle will go on to support charity (the American Red Cross or Child's Play), while buyers have the option to select how much of their purchase goes to the charity, the developers, or the Humble Bundle team. All the games come with a Steam key and all but one are available as DRM-free downloads too.The bundle is broken into three price tiers. Paying $5.99 or less gets buyers Shank 2, Blocks That Matter, and BIT.TRIP Runner. Paying between $6 and $9.99 gets buyers the previous three titles as well as BIT.TRIP Presents Runner2, Megabyte Punch, and Fly'n. Paying $10 or more gets buyers all six previous games plus King Arthur's Gold (read our review) and Mark of the Ninja: Special Edition.The soundtracks for Shank 2, BIT.TRIP Runner, Blocks that Matter, BIT.TRIP Runner 2, and Megabyte Punch come alongside their respective games.The deal lasts through Thursday, May 22nd.

If you pay more than the user average, you get a swathe of extras like more games and goodies like soundtracks.This, the fifth Humble Mobile Bundle, includes Android versions of games like The Room Two, The Cave, Carcassonne, Bag It!, Aralon: Sword and Shadow and R-Type II. More games will be added over time, and purchasing now will get you those as well.

    Brandon Boyer has led a pretty busy life. He's a contributing editor to Boing Boing that once started his own record label, though most probably know him as Chairman of the Independent Games Festival (IGF). More recently, he helped found the crowdfunded Venus Patrol, an organization dedicated to discovering the beautiful things in game culture. Now that interesting life of his is in danger, as he's been diagnosed with cancer and his insurance company, Humana, has footed him with a $100,000 treatment bill. Of course, they did send him a chocolate bar, because that's how you apologize for literally trying to scam someone to death.Boyer has again turned to crowdfunding, this time to save his life. By supporting him and his treatment you can now get a ton of great games out of the deal.The Humble Bundle, a group that sells games in a pay-what-you-want pricing model, is holding one of their biggest deals yet in support of Boyer. It's a little different than usual, as you need to pay at least $25 to get the deal, but for that price you'll receive over 30 indie games and soundtracks for PC.

    January 2nd saw the launch of 2014's first Humble Weekly Sale, featuring games from Amanita Design, Might and Delight, Vectorpark Inc., and State of Play Games. All of the games come DRM-free for Windows and Mac, and all of the games (except Samorost 2) come with Steam keys. Paying $6 or more gets buyers Samorost 2, Machinarium, Lume, Windosill, Shelter, and Botanicula. Paying less than the pre-determined price point, gets buyers all of the previously mentioned games, except the latter two. Currently, the sale has generated over $76,000, with the average purchase price being $3.41.

    After yesterday's announcement that Ouya would be getting a spiffy new Limited Edition console release in a pristine white casing just in time for the holidays, today we've also learned some interesting Ouya-related news. The company behind the controversial Android-based home gaming console has teamed up with Humble Bundle to bring gamers the very first console game to be available for purchase through the Humble Bundle website.The game in question is the highly addictive TowerFall by Matt Makes Games, and players will be able to scoop up the multiplayer combat platformer at a discounted price of $9.99 over the next 24 hours on the newly-launched Humble Bundle storefront for use on their Ouya console.
