    It seems like everyone on the internet these days is beyond excited about the 50th anniversary of the popular sci-fi TV show Doctor Who. Well now it looks like Google New Zealand has decided to join in on all of the spirit by offering a fun little Doctor Who game that you can play right on their home page!Google has been known for putting up a few neat little game experiences on their homepage over the years, but this latest Doctor Who one has got to be the most intricate one that I've personally ever seen.  I would describe it as a top-down puzzle platformer of sorts, where players choose one of the various Doctors from the span of the show, and navigate several tricky areas full of robots and switches in order to collect enough letters to spell out the word "GOOGLE.""And of course, fans of the series will be happy to know that you'll start and end each level in the trademark telephone booth. Even if you've never had a chance to get into the television series before like I have (blasphemous, I know), there's still no reason why you shouldn't give the Google Doctor Who game a try, because it's really an all-around fun time.You can currently check it out on the New Zealand-specific Google home page by clicking right over here. You'd better act fast though, because we have no idea how much longer it's going to be up there for.

    I will write about your campaign though. Over the past day, Gamezebo has been inundated by requests to purchase SuperPoke Pets from Google to keep the game running. Based on conversations with other companies, I am not the only one getting these requests.The answer is, no, we can't buy the game from Google and keep it running. I know, I have the reputation of being a high roller, but if Google can't afford to keep it running, Gamezebo can't as well. Having said that, I have to give the players behind this campaign credit for their enthusiasm. Truth is, some company they spam may be enticed to purchase the game from Google. They should be able to acquire the game and all of Slides assets for a penny -- literally.

    If you're a fan of Facebook gaming and you happen to own an iPad, iSwifter has been a must own app for a few months now. A streaming service not unlike Onlive or Netflix, iSwifter has made Facebook gaming possible on the iPad despite Apple's lack of support for Flash. Now the folks at iSwifter are starting to think about the future - and it's a future that includes Google+.

    Last April, when Google bought Slide, I implied that it was a stupid acquisition (I'm a nice guy, so I nicely said they over-paid).The new bosses at Google must agree with me, because as of last night, Slide is no more. As reported to AllThingsD, Google has shut down Slide and its founder Max Levchin is leaving company, presumably to start his next company.Included in the list of shut down projects is the semi-popular game SuperPoke Friends as well as a bunch of non-related social app projects.

    When Google+ first launched, the first thing I thought about was how the service could be used for games. Up until it came out there really was no direct competitor to Facebook, and so social network games could really only be found in one place. So it wasn't exactly surprising when Google announced that Google+ would be getting games, but it was still exciting. The service has slowly been rolling out to users, and I've spent the last week or so playing around with it to get a feel. But the big question, of course, is whether Google+ is a better gaming platform than Facebook.And it depends.
