Miss the color, charm, and atmosphere of the Viva Piñata series? Gameloft's new project, Monster Life, is shaping up to be the next thing. Yar-har, fiddle-dee-dee. You are a pirate. That is to say, you can be a pirate. Ya got the potential to be a scurvy sea-dog, kid. Real potential. But just to be sure, you should play Pirate Explorer, a hidden object/city building game for iOS, PC, and Android. Haul in some priceless booty from a hapless ship, and then we'll talk.Monster Mansion Preview

It's rough being a monster. For starters, it's a pain to get a rental application approved. Other tenants can't deal with vampires' active night lives, and it's a well-known fact that werewolves are rarely even paper-trained. That's why you need to play Monster Mansion, a free-to-play building-management game for iOS. Someone needs to build the monsters a home. Will you do it?Outernauts Review
If I had a nickel for every time that I heard someone was advertising "The next Pokémon", I'd be able to afford plenty of better games. The monster capture genre is hard to pull off: you need a perfect balance of engaging combat, decent animations, rewarding exploration, and depth. To this date, I haven't found a single game even worthy of the Pokémon comparison. Until now.Jurassic Park Builder Review

If any combination of words is capable of making your inner child sit up and take notice, that combination should be "Jurassic," "Park," and "Builder." After all, the implications are fascinating. Who wouldn't want to build their own dinosaur park, raise raptors, feed goats to Tyrannosaurs Rexes, and hopefully keep everything from going horribly wrong this time (we suggest thoroughly inspecting every can of shaving cream that comes into the park)? Jurassic Park Builder for iOS doesn't really offer an outset that's as exciting as the movie that spawned it, but it's still a very decent park-building game that lets you manage some fascinating attractions.Botkin’s Hidden Cove Review

Here's an intriguing idea: Lord of the Flies meets Disney. Imagine fluffy animals on an abandoned jungle island, dancing in the throes of wild bloodlust, hunting one another for sport, and offering up each other's heads as gifts for their unspeakable gods. Botkin's Hidden Cove for Facebook has the fluffy animals and the desert island, but it's low on instances of frenzied violence. Well, two out of three ain't bad, and Botkin's Hidden Cove isn't a bad game, either—though it's definitely not meant to be enjoyed solo.Crazy Penguin Wars Review
By Leif Johnson
Play Crazy Penguin Wars for about five minutes, and you could be forgiven for thinking that the craziest thing about it is its shameless emulation of Team17's popular Worms franchise. Were I the lazy sort, I could probably label it "Worms dressed up in a penguin suit" and leave my review at that. For the most part, I'd be right. But Crazy Penguin Wars brings its own share of surprises, meager though they may be, and it demonstrates just how far multiplayer gaming has evolved on Facebook in recent years. It's a great game if you're craving synchronous multiplayer action on Facebook, and even if you don't care for its mimicking of a beloved franchise, it's worth playing as a test run for how Team17's own Worms port will fare upon its release.
