World at Arms Review
Most iOS armchair generals should be rather intimate with the intricacies of building their own army and base within a freemium model at this point. With Gameloft throwing its helmet into the ring once again, it would be understandable to simply expect more of the same. To a degree it is, but World at Arms adds more than just a spit n' polish to a common formula; it also adds some much needed interactivity.
Akaneiro: Demon Hunters Preview
Steeped heavily in Japanese folklore, Akaneiro: Demon Hunters puts players into the shoes of - you guessed it - a demon hunter, roaming the countryside and battling the demonic Yokai in defense of the village of Yomi. "When Yomi falls, the Underworld will rise" is how the Akaneiro promotional trailer puts it, and the rise of the Underworld, in Japan or anywhere else, is never a good thing.

On the hierarchy of "Rad," wizards rank pretty high, and the great Merlin is the raddest of all. Camelot's magic-slinging human/incubus hybrid features in countless games, shows, and cartoons, so it makes sense that he'd eventually find his way to the social gaming scene. While Merlin: The Game isn't a magical example of an action/RPG, it definitely ranks as one of Facebook's better games. Here be dragons. It's a good thing.

As the company scrambles to face an uncertain future by embracing real money gambling and third party games, it's not giving up on the Ville games that made it a giant in the first place. And with CityVille 2, Zynga shows that there may yet be some bite left in that dog.
