Some women just want to watch the world turn from several thousand feet up in the air. Pearl's Peril is an upcoming hidden object game about a pilot named Pearl who must unravel a personal mystery. It's a rough job. Luckily, she can take breaks and build up her tropical island.
Kingsbridge Preview
Have you ever had a sad moment when you drank a little too much whiskey and then decided to plumb the darkest corners of Craigslist? Maybe you saw some sketchy giveaways offering a free mattress to anyone who wanted to fumigate its bedbug colony first. Kingsbridge similarly offers the player a fixer-upper, but there are no soiled mattresses and parasites (thankfully). Instead, you need to clear some bandits out of your town and then work on building up that town into something to be proud of.
Shadow Escaper Review
Games release on the App Store all the time, and unfortunately not every single one merits a review. So what makes Shadow Escaper so special? Well, first and foremost, it was developed by CyberConnect2, the studio behind the .hack series, quite a few Naruto games, and the unbelievably crazy Asura's Wrath. Secondly—and not unlike Asura's Wrath—its premise is downright insane. That insanity doesn't quite make up for all of the game's flaws, but I'll be darned if it doesn't come close.
Gun Bros 2 Review
It's been a while since we last saw the Gun Bros., but seasoned fans of the series will feel right at home here in this much-anticipated sequel. In Gun Bros. 2, Francis and Percy Gun return for another installment of all-out destruction with big guns and even bigger bad guys. But has the time away left these war-hardened F.R.A.G.G.E.D. vets a little soft on the inside? Come on. Is that even a question here?
Game of Thrones Ascent Review
The fantasy world depicted in Game of Thrones is fun to visit on HBO, but living there might not be (largely due to the difficulty of keeping your head attached to your shoulders). Disruptor Beam wants you to be able to experience all the intrigue and excitement of Westeros from the safety of your computer, creating the multiplayer RPG Game of Thrones Ascent for Facebook. The Iron Throne beckons, but only if you keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
Tetris Blitz Preview
Do you know how to play Tetris? Talk about a silly question, one that's possibly more absurd than "Do you know how to breathe?" Everyone has played Tetris, including your grandmother, your father, your hamster, and those aliens that invade your bedroom every night and put you in suspended animation just so they can go a few rounds on your old Game Boy cart. After so many ports and revamps, is there anything else that can be done with gaming's favorite falling blocks? EA hopes so; it's turning up the intensity with Tetris Blitz for iOS and Android.
Dragon Storm Review
A literal storm of dragons would be pretty dangerous. So we're lucky there isn't such a thing, even if the graphics that meteorologists would use to depict it in the 10-day forecast would be pretty cool. The iOS game Dragon Storm, conversely, is a real thing, made by Griptonite and Glu Games as a multiplayer fantasy builder and battle game. It also looks pretty cool, but the gameplay doesn't live up to the high bar set by its visuals.
Life is Magic Review
There's magic in your neighborhood. Plus orcs and elves and demons and wizards. You probably didn't notice it with just your eyes, which is where Life is Magic enters the scene. The free-to-play, location-based dungeon crawler turns the earth into a fantasy battleground, allowing you to cooperate with and compete against your real world neighbors for resources. It'd be a shame if their power suddenly went out, wouldn't it?
