The many adventures of Gamebook Adventures [interview]

Everyone loves to snuggle up with a good book. The only real downside is that books, by their very nature, are terribly one-sided experience. Wouldn't a story be much more engaging if it were interactive? If, instead of passively reading about someone else's adventure, you could actually play a part in your own?

Back in the 80's, videogames were nothing more than simple arcade-style adventures with pixel-heavy models. But before videogames had any of the required components to for telling compelling story, including realistic graphics, voice acting, and solid writing, adventure seekers with an active imagination could jump into an interactive story anytime they wanted to via gamebooks.

Epic challenges game developers to remake Fighting Fantasy with Unreal Engine

Game design competitions with the Unreal Engine are fairly commonplace these days, but Epic Games may have just issued one of the most unique challenges to date. The company wants studios to make a new game for iOS, with the Unreal Engine, based on the Fighting Fantasy games.
