Dragons of Atlantis gets a dragon-sized update
It looks like the Year of the Dragon is upon us in full force! We've seen new stages in Angry Birds Seasons, new items in Hidden Chronicles, new dragons in Dragonvale, and now Kabam's Dragons of Atlantis is joining the party with a major update of its own.
Kabam, SweetLabs and Download.com are bringing social games to the desktop
Do you love playing social games but hate launching a browser and navigating to a particular website just to play them? Now Download.com, Kabam and SweetLabs are teaming up to take social games out of the browser and put them right on your desktop. The companies will be utilizing SweetLabs' Pokki desktop app to create a new home for Kabam games like The Godfather: Five Families, Edgeworld, Thirst of Night and Dragons of Atlantis.
Kabam looks beyond Facebook, expands to iOS and Kongregate
Despite making a decent sized "boom" on Facebook with games such as Dragons of Atlantis and Kingdoms of Camelot, Kabam is not content with having all of their eggs in one basket, so in a surprise move, they're bringing games to both iOS and Kongregate.
Kabam raises $30 million to make more core social games
Kabam continues to push forward in its attempt to become the number two biggest social games company, raising $30 million today, in addition to the $9.5 million it has raised previously. The company has been on a bit of a tear lately, growing from 20 to 200 employees in the past years with offices down the road from me (in SF Bay area) and China. It has launched and acquired numerous games such as Dragons of Atlantis and Glory of Rome but bed and butter remains Kingdoms of Camelot.
Kabam acquires WonderHill in Quest to Conquer Facebook Games
Kabam has upped the ante in its battle to take on the Zynga's of the world by acquiring WonderHill. Kabam is on a bit of a tear lately based on the success of it's strategy game Kingdoms of Camelot. The company has expanded from 30 to 200 employees in the past year and has the ambitious goals of releasing a new game a month and becoming the Blizzard of Social Games according to an article in TechCrunch.
