    When it comes to the business of entertainment, there's one hard and simple fact that can't be avoided: Disney owns everything. Marvel Comics? Disney owns it. ABC television? They own that too. ESPN, The Muppets, Baby Einstein; it seems there's not a single aspect of the entertainment industry that Disney doesn't have a dominant foothold in. And now, it would seem, they've turned their attention to video games.

    Playdom has released a string of quality social games since being acquired by Disney, but so far none of those have taken advantage of Disney's vast library of recognizable brands. But it looks like that's going to change, as the company announced plans to launch several new Disney-branded Facebook games next year.

    Actually, I better say, watch out Rovio! Like the fake Apple Stores, Techcrunch is reporting that a Chinese amusement park has created an unauthorized and very authentic carnival-like attraction based on Angry Birds.Players shoot plush Angry Birds toys (authorized, probably made in China) with a giant sling into inflatable pig balloons. This puts Rovio in an interesting spot.

    Chris Morrison has written what appears to be the first chapter of a book on the Disney-Playdom acquisition over at Inside Social Games. In his very long blog post and analysis (which I'm actually applauding), he questions whether Disney's $700 million acquisition of Playdom has been a "win" or "fail" so far for Disney.
