Animal Land Review
The city-building ilk on Facebook has become a bit trite when it comes to social game design and it is difficult (to put it lightly) to stand out in any way. A new application, however, by the name of Animal Land is attempting to do so by focusing more on what makes such games popular in the first place: creativity. Though much of the formulaic aspects of the genre seep their way into the design, it does at least make the attempt to grant its players greater rewards for playing, and slightly more creative control in their city design. But only slightly.
Yeti Town Review
There's a certain wisdom in music that, if you're going to cover a song, you really add to do something new. You need to make it your own. Otherwise, why would someone listen to your song instead of the original? The same goes for games. Unfortunately for Yeti Town, the only substantial difference between it and Facebook's Triple Town is the platform it's on. Otherwise it's the exact same game, only this time with snow.
Atlantis Fantasy Review
A new city-builder from the folks over at Kobojo has hit Facebook and this time it is taking players deep beneath the ocean waves. Atlantis Fantasy is the name, and believe it or not it actually feels very different from the rest of its ilk. Not only does it have a unique visual style, but it actually incorporates resource management mechanics that feel significant. Granted, it still comes with many of the features of its predecessors, but in a rare occasion, does not feel like a carbon copy.
Karma Kingdom Review
Facebook is traveling to a place of serenity and balance with a new simulation title by the name of Karma Kingdom. Reminiscent of games like Happy Island, the application promotes the concepts of kinship and enlightenment, as well as incorporates the noble endeavor of charity. Nevertheless, in terms of gameplay, the new ideas it does present are often vague and come accompanied with a handful of obnoxious bugs.
Epic Astro Story Review
Oh, my poor editor here at Gamezebo must have been pulling his hair out waiting for this review. I missed my deadline by a good 12 hours, at least. The problem was that I couldn't stop playing the game long enough to take the time to write these words. The only reason I'm writing them right now is because I purposefully left my phone at home when I went out to get breakfast, just to force myself to ignore the temptation long enough to bang out the words necessary to tell you that Epic Astro Story is awesome.
Venture Towns Review
Some of my fondest gaming memories start with the Super Nintendo and SimCity. Building up cities and watching them grow and flourish was a fascinating process. With Kairosoft's Venture Towns, you won't be getting the same scale of building your own virtual world, but what you will get is the same addictive gameplay that has hooked you on other city-building games in the past.
