You wouldn't expect to turn to a solitaire game for stories of passion and romance, but that's exactly what 2008's Heartwild Solitaire delivered. According to developer Orchid Games you can expect more of the same - and three times the content - when the follow-up Heartwild Solitaire: Book Two launches next month. Keep reading for the scoop.
After playing Zooloretto, the digital version of the board game of the same name, I've come to the conclusion that running a successful zoo boils down to two things: First and foremost, don't make flamingos and cheetahs share the same personal space, and always make sure you have as many vendor stalls as possible.
I'm not an art student. Despite my achieving adulthood some time ago, the best I can usually cobble together in the realm of drawing is a stick figure or a happy face that rivals the artistic endeavours of a 5 year old. Yet I've always found myself drawn to Pictionary. In the 80's I was an avid Win, Lose or Draw fan. And today? Today I have Charadium.
Air Solitaire is a rudimentary version of Klondike solitaire with so-so production values and no story or extras to speak of. In fact, a "flying" theme with planes and sky backgrounds is pretty much the only thing that makes this different from the free version of Solitaire that's been shipped with every Windows PC for the past two decades.

While not one of the better hidden-object games (HOGs) to debut in 2009, Alawar's 1001 Nights: The Adventures Of Sindbad is a decent adventure for younger players or those new to the HOG genre. Seasoned players, however, might find this digital download simply too easy. The fictitious story surrounds Sindbad the Sailor, his amazing adventures and how he met (and saved) his true love. Inspired by the adventures penned in 1001 Arabian Nights, this enjoyable tale includes many wild locations, monsters and supernatural foes. In the game, you must help Princess Chalida locate the seven gems of her royal crown in order to break an ancient curse that has trapped her in a wooden body.
As an absolute trivia nerd, I met the announcement of Trivial Pursuit for the iPhone with both excitement and dread. Trivia nerds around the world agree, there are two things that Trivial Pursuit is known for; insanely difficult questions and creating a fantastic group experience. But the iPhone is aimed at keeping things simple, and generally focuses on the single player. Could EA somehow overcome these cross-purposes and make a great portable trivia experience despite this situation?
Bringing their "Family Game Night" concept to video game audiences is something that Hasbro has been trying to succeed with over the past few years, and it's met with mixed results. While games like Jenga World Tour and Operation Mania were flops, recent releases like Monopoly and Trivial Pursuit have been meeting with moderate success, both critically and commercially. Could Yahtzee, a simple game that combines dice and poker rules, really offer the level of depth and replayability that so many gamers demand nowadays? Much to my surprise, the answer is a resounding yes.
