Probe the Humans Preview
By Dant Rambo
What do you think of when you hear the words "Probe the Humans"? I imagine it breaks down into two camps: People who envision someone getting interrogated, and others who think of aliens doing unwanted things to the human anatomy. Probe the Humans for iOS doesn't contain either, but it does feature aliens abducting anything they possibly can. There may be some allusion to probing, but let's just pretend there's not.Duckers Review
By Eli Cymet
In my preview for Duckers, I sang developer Retro Dreamer's praises as the bonafide Atari of the App Store. I made no secret of my love for the indie duo's previous projects, and shared my high hopes for their, shall we say, down to earth marathon title. Now that they've released it into the wild, the only question is: what's more embrassing? The fact that I was dead wrong about this one, or the fact that I actually loved it and you believed me there for a second?Zombie Swipeout Review
By Dant Rambo
The argument against cloning is a muddled one. While some games are flagrant in their mimicry of other works, others merely toe the line and leave people debating whether or not they're shameless copies. Zombie Swipeout fromZynga falls into the latter camp, offering a style of gameplay that's reminiscent - but not wholly derivative - of App Store titan Fruit Ninja. Not to mention the whole zombie thing. That's certainly different.Max Astro: Stranded Beyond the Stars Preview
Meet Max. He's an astronaut. He isn't the fittest, brightest, or most conventional space pilot out there, but everybody deserves their own story, right? When his rocket ship takes a turn for the worse by plummeting into an unknown alien planet, it's up to Max to defeat the mysterious aliens and make his way back home.Air Mail Review
By Nadia Oxford
Air Mail for iOS is what Nintendo's Pilotwings series should be like. Younger game players may not remember this, but the original SNES installment of Pilotwings actually has a loose story that links all your flights through the wild blue yonder. That little infusion of narrative—which is missing from the newer Pilotwings games—gave you a sense of progression and purpose. Likewise, Air Mail's simple but compelling story really drives you forward in what's already an incredibly charming flight sim.Chicken Deep Preview
Forget that James Cameron has travelled to the deepest part of the ocean earlier this year; much of the existing life undersea remains a mystery. Yet, there remains an untapped underwater exploration device that just might help us undercover the depths below: the chicken. What?Mystic Ice Blast Review
By Leif Johnson
Don't get me wrong: I love "match 3" puzzle games on Facebook, especially when they come with a 60-second blitz mode for easy competition with my friends. In fact, I think I've almost reached a point where I've played Bejeweled Blitz on more days of my life than any other game besides World of Warcraft.Bubble Blitz Review
By Nadia Oxford
Facebook is not hurting for bubble-popping games. Whenever you have the urge to sink your face against your fist while you pop the digital equivalent of bubble wrap, oh boy, does Facebook ever have you covered. It's hard to be impressed by any sort of shiny bauble-clearing game anymore, really, but Bubble Blitz by PlayQ may actually make you feel joy in your cynical heart. It's a fast-paced and addictive game with a surprisingly great soundtrack.
