Sela the Space Pirate Preview
Have you ever dreamt of living a pirate's life—swashbuckling, treasure-hunting, scurvy—but stopped short of your goal because you can't swim? Well, why not become a space pirate? There's not a drop of water in the black reaches of space, though the lack of air and heat might not be to your liking, either. Maybe it'd be better to just stay at home and give space-pirating a try through Sela the Space Pirate, an action shooting game that's coming to iOS.
Wave Trip Preview
Some might say that human astronauts have the coolest possible jobs. Maybe they do, and maybe they don't. All we know for sure is that space travel can be tedious. Think of enduring all that cold, black space that's only dotted with a few points of distant light. The astronaut that zips through Lucky Frame's Wave Trip has a better idea: she travels through beautiful alien worlds on waves of actual sound. It's more exciting than eating a house made of freeze-dried ice cream.
Swing King Review
The story of Swing King is one we can all relate to: our fuzzy monarch hero, who is apparently part sticky hand toy, is canoodling with his frog Queen one evening. Out of the night comes a much taller, Cat-in-the-Hat-hatted fuzzy villain, who steals the stars from the sky. Our hero swings into action, hoping to reclaim the stars with the help of his trusty unicorn steed, and get back to his romantic evening.
Swing King Preview
I was the king of the swings back in elementary school. No one on the playground could swing as high as me, which left me feeling, quite literally, on top of the world. But having seen what the main character of Swing King is capable of, I now know it's time to pass the torch. My days as king are over, and his have just begun.
ShaqDown Preview
Shaq may be best known as a (former) basketball player, but his legacy is a little more expansive than that. He's rapped, acted in movies, and even starred in a fighting game called Shaq Fu. It wasn't the greatest game, but the sheer absurdity of its premise has made it something of a cultural legend. Not content to let his video game legacy end there, Shaq and developer Hiptic Games have partnered up to release ShaqDown.
Magical Ride Review
A witch's greatest enemy is not a dragon, a manticore, or even an animal control agent looking to tag and haul away her black cat. No, a witch's worst enemy is gravity, that grumpy old force of nature that already has big issues with humans flying around in machines and isn't a big fan of magic girls whipping through the air on broomsticks. Time to stop letting gravity push you around. Magical Ride for Facebook is an endless running/flying game (think Jetpack Joyride) that pits you against gravity's inexorable pull—not to mention fireballs, ghosts, and electrodes.
Vorp! Review
Vorp feels like it could have been released 10 years ago. We don't mean that in a bad way at all; rather, it's an indication of how far this sort of team-based space battler has come over the last decade - that is, not very far at all. The moment you jump into Vorp, it feels sort of familiar and safe, and for this reason the game never really reaches lofty heights.
Buddha Finger Review
Some games are so addictive that you spend your time away from them thinking about them, possibly even dreaming about them. Buddha Finger is one of those games, and although it's not quite in the same league as classics like Tetris or Space Invaders, it's still the kind of game that will draw you in and never let you go.
