There have been more than enough Flappy Bird facsimiles to fill the void left by the original, but Noodlecake Studios gets a gold star for actually evolving the original Flappy Bird with Flappy Golf.Flappy Golf essentially cross-breeds Flappy Bird's physics with the golf courses from the already-released Super Stickman Golf 2, a hit "extreme golf" game from Noodlecake. But whereas Super Stickman Golf 2 challenges you to hit the ball into the cup, in Flappy Golf, you are the ball (meditate on that, why don'tchya).

Make it Rain: The Love of Money is a reflex / tapping game in the vein of Cookie Clicker, but instead of tapping cookies to make them multiply (in their mysterious, doughy way), you "slide" bills off an endless stack to "make it rain," as you're instructed to do by the game's very name.By now, there should be enough Cookie Clicker-type games on the App Store and Google Play for you to begin making a decision about whether you love them or loathe them. Make it Rain: The Love of Money isn't much deeper than previously-released tapping games, but it has one major advantage over the competition: Sliding the bills off a stack is far more gratifying than simply tapping on a screen fast enough for your finger to ignite.

Even though all these games generally require players to utilize one (sometimes two) fingers and follow simple rule sets, some still manage to be more sophisticated than others.dEXTRIS by Chaotic Box falls a little closer to the "sophisticated" side of the recent arcade game resurrection. Like Flappy Bird, dEXTRIS' basics are very easy to grasp, its controls are uncomplicated, it's challenging, and your only job in the game is to get a high score. Unlike Flappy Bird, however, dEXTRIS is a slick-looking game with an adrenaline-fueling soundtrack.Oh, and like Flappy Bird, dEXTRIS is addictive. Frustratingly, head-smashingly, "Why am I playing this oh just one more level" addictive.

Who needs to play for that crumpled five dollar bill hanging out in the back of the machine when you can net your very own dragon?Dragon Coins' closest relative is GungHo's Puzzle & Dragons. You go through several missions and fight monsters with the aid of your own monster cards. Victory in battle earns you gold coins and more monster cards that can be raised into warriors, or used as fodder to upgrade your favorites.

What do you get when you cross Dr. Mario with Ikaruga? Finger-tapping bullet hell with a dose of wubwubwub, that's what. Or at least that's what you get from Intake - a blisteringly fast puzzle game from Cipher Prime, the makers of fantastic little gems like Pulse, Fractal and Splice: Tree of Life.The gameplay here is easy enough to grasp. Pills of different colors descend down the screen in varying directions and you'll need to tap to eliminate them - but only if they match the color that you're meant to be hunting for. You'll only deal with two different colors at any given time, and switching your target color is as easy as tapping the bottom of the screen. If any of the wrong colored pills reach the bottom of the screen, it's game over.It's simple on paper, but devilishly difficult in practice.

Call it fate, destiny or whatever you'd like, but it's only fitting that a company named Kabam would eventually get around to creating a game called Blast Zone! Unabashedly inspired by Bomberman and its many progeny, it's fun to play solo but even more of a hoot to play with or against others. Admit it: you thought I was going to go for the easy one and say "blast" there, didn't you?Considering the gameplay involves running around mazes and planting bombs to blow up other players and AI-controlled characters, Kabam could have gone for something dark and dystopian here. Instead, Blast Zone! takes a cuter, more cheerful route by imagining its competitions as part of a popular TV show. As far as I can tell, no one actually dies despite the massive amounts of explosions that take place.
