Stickman Skate Battle is a gorgeous multiplayer skateboarding game which just launched on iOS and Android.

You’ll battle your friends in 10 different skateparks – all of which have been hand-designed in a beautiful 3D engine.

This isn’t traditional battling though. You won’t be trying to knock each other off skateboards, or firing bazookas at each other. No, this is nice and friendly fun.

There are two modes to duke it out in. High score is reminiscent of the Tony Hawk games, with you both trying to perform the best tricks in a minute. At the end, you’ll get a score and the player with the highest, wins.

Then there’s the Splatoon-inspired domination mode. Here you have to perform tricks on objects dotted around the arena, which covers them in your colour. At the end of the match, the player with the most objects wins.

You do have to put in some effort though, as your opponent can splash their own colours on your objects if they perform a better trick on them.

Aside from the main modes, there’ll be daily, weekly, and league tournaments where you can really put your skills to the test.

All of these modes are played in real time online, which is rarer than you’d think on mobile. It’s a right treat.

If you’re feeling a little unconfident in your abilities, you can train up in a variety of different ways. There’s a tutorial to help you get started, and a training mode where you can practice to make perfect.

You can also play offline against an AI opponent, which is handy when you’re off the grid. There are a bunch of different characters and skateboards to select from, to give yourself a bit of personal flair. If you really want to show off, you can learn a special trick or two.

Finally, if you’re not a fan of touch controls, there’s full controller support. Stickman Skate Battle is out right now on iOS and Android for free.
