Blasting, Warhammer, and fantasy football
We try to cover every Switch and Switch 2 game we’re sent a code for here at Gamezebo. Sometimes we find ourselves with a bit of a backlog though – like right now for instance. In fact the backlog has got a bit ridiculous.
So here are some shorter reviews of games released or updated on the Switch over the last few months, and we’ll likely have some more round ups similar to this for you very soon too.
Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader [Switch 2]
You’d be forgiven for believing that Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader is the perfect match for Switch 2. After all, who wouldn’t want a sprawling, tightly-crafted CRPG to make you wish those lengthy journeys were just a tad longer. And, in many ways, it is. The world is a joy to explore, the writing breathes new life into the universe, and building your ideal character never gets old.
But – and there is a but – the Switch 2 version just isn’t up to par. It’s not the fault of the platform either. Sadly, it’s just too poorly-optimised to recommend in its current form. Frame rates are shakier than an aeroplane going through turbulence, load times will have you glancing at your watch, and you’re going to need to whip out the magnifying glass to learn what that loot you just dropped is.
Make no mistake: this is a great game that’s well worth your time if you’re into the classics like Baldur’s Gate or Planes of Torment. We just recommend that you play it quite literally anywhere else until it’s all patched up.

Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road [Switch 2]
The Inazuma Eleven is a sprawling franchise, with this the fourth main entry – but there are numerous spin offs and the GO series to consider too.
This is, for what it’s worth, probably the best game in the series so far. An RPG style title based around football, you are tasked with building up a team and progressing up the league.
The actual football gameplay is solid enough, although the extreme RPG special moves you can use certainly aren’t for sporting purists.
It’s not for everyone, but if you’re a dedicated fan of the series this is one you can’t really miss. If you’re not sure this is for you though, it probably isn’t.

Deadzone: Rogue [Switch 2]
We’ve been excited for this roguelite FPS since it landed on Steam last year, and this Switch 2 port is as solid as it comes.
The game’s plot is largely superfluous, seeing you dropped into a spaceship crawling with a range of robotic terrors. You have to battle through as many as you can, each time trying to progress as far as possible.
The real draw here is the combat though, which is just as well considering that’s basically all you’ll be doing.
There’s a great range of weapons that are satisfying to use, the controls are responsive, and you’ll always feel you can do better on every run – an essential but sometimes overlooked element of any roguelike.
This one is an essential purchase for anyone looking for a first person shooter on their Switch 2, with it offering a fun ride both solo and in co-op.
