There’s a constant edge to Linia Super. An ever-reducing time bar presides over everything you do, watching, judging, mocking your attempts to solve the line-drawing, color-sequence spotting puzzles. It feels like you’re always in an anxious rush, one eye on the clock, the other trying to find the perfect time to lift your finger.
The aim of the game is to match a sequence of colors by drawing a line between them. Each level is a shifting, slightly mesmerizing swirl of shapes and hues and it’s up to you to figure out when and where you should be drawing your straight line to connect the colors and finish the challenge.

There are different batches of levels with their own art styles and thematic differences, but that core draw-to-connect mechanic is present in all of them. So is the clock, winding down, pushing you into ever more frantic scrawls as you try and complete a puzzle.
You can fill up the clock by spending the coins you earn or buy, giving you extra seconds to try and find the right line. But there’s so little time to begin with that you’re often scrabbling to refill the bar before you’ve even had a chance to soak in the patterns you need to understand.
Linia Super sort of feels like it’s from two different worlds. There’s the anxious, time-limit based twitch puzzling, but it doesn’t quite match the more sedate mechanics of line drawing and pattern recognition. And that leads to some pretty big dissonance.

Because this feels like a game where you should take your time, letting the patterns develop before making your choice. Instead you’re always rushed, forced into mistakes because the numbers of seconds you have to act feels consistently insufficient.
This isn’t a bad game, but instead of giving its ideas space to breathe it’s forever rushing you, insistent that you make your choices before you’ve really had a chance to figure them out. And in the end that makes for more frustration than fun.
