Transformers have always been plenty cool on their own, but there was something about seeing them combine to form Devastator and Superion back in the day that just set my young heart aflutter. Time hasn’t reduced the awe all that much, which is why it’s great to see that the Combiner Wars are coming to Transformers: Earth Wars.

The timing couldn’t be better since the Combiners were at the center of the Hasbro and Machinima “Transformers: Combiner Wars” series. Now that the Enigma of Combination has been located in Earth Wars, players will be able to assemble the two most famous Combiners in the franchise’s long and storied history and use them to rain destruction on enemies with unique attacks and abilities.

Of course you’ll need to acquire the individual bots that go into forming Devastator or Superion first, which you can do in the Combiner Wars campaign with the help of brand new structures.

“Bringing Combiners into the game was a goal throughout development, and we couldn’t be more excited to have achieved this milestone for Transformers fans,” Mark Blecher, Senior Vice President, Digital Gaming and Corporate Development at Hasbro, said in a press release. “Combiners bring another level of authenticity to the game and a whole new mission for the player to collect, combine and battle at a new level.”

An in-game event this weekend will also help you advance toward fielding a Combiner of your own, so you’ll want to level up now and join an alliance if you haven’t already done so. And if you haven’t started playing Transformers: Earth Wars at all, no worries, It’s a free download from either the App Store or Google Play, and you’ll be able to work your way into the Combiner Wars before too long. And trust me, if you enjoy the game, you’re going to want to do exactly that.
