Considering that the expert on the length of winter has already spokenĀ and let us know that cold weather will be hanging around a bit longer, it’s still not the ideal time to be out and about playing Pokemon GO in many places. What we need is a reason to go out walking and hatching eggs again, something like, say, Valentine’s Day.

Laugh if you want, but the Pokemon GO Valentine’s Day event is now underway. Set to run through Feb. 15 at 11 a.m. Pacific time, the event bumps up the spawn rates for pink Pokemon like Chansey, Clefable and Porygon and makes it more likely you’ll find Cleffa, Igglybuff and Smoochum in Pokemon Eggs.

(And really, is there a more seasonally appropriate Pokemon than Smoochum?)

On top of that, Lure Modules last for six hours, 12 times their normal duration, and players receive twice as much Pokemon Candy when catching, hatching or even transferring Pokemon back to the professor. This Candy won’t even rot your teeth, so there’s that.

So when you consider that you can either dust off Pokemon GO this Valentine’s Day or try to grit out more of those chalky candy hearts, the choice seems pretty clear. Bundle up and get out there, because those pink and cute Pokemon aren’t going to catch or hatch themselves.
