Scott Cawthon is a man of many surprises. The creator of Five Nights at Freddy’s first teased that a sequel would be coming in 2015. Then, only weeks after that first announcement, he released the finished product on Steam (with the promise that a mobile version was still coming, of course).
And now, only a week after that, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 has released on Android.

In addition to the full Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 release, Cawthon has also released a demo on Android to give players a taste of the scare before they part with their money.
There’s no word yet on when an iOS release will be coming, but with big releases usually timed for late Wednesday night, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was out (and on the top of the App Store) by Thursday morning.
The original Five Nights at Freddy’s has held the #1 spot on the App Store’s paid apps chart since its iOS release in September. A survival horror game about a night watchman in a Chuck E. Cheese-style restaurant, players were tasked were surviving one week of work amidst some poorly programmed animatronic monstrosities.

While a sequel that follows only months after the original usually smacks of a rush to cash in, reception to the PC version of Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 has been largely positive. Tweaks like a new flashlight mechanic that can slow down Freddy and Friends, and a music box that needs to be kept wound at all times have been mostly well-received by the gaming public.
You can download Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 from Google Play now for $2.99, or try the free demo.
