If you’re a fan of going underground and mashing monsters in the face with a variety of different weapons, then Dungelot: Shattered Lands has probably been on your radar for a while. But if you’ve got an Android device, it’s been tantalizingly out of reach. Until now, that is, because you can grab the game from the Google Play Store right this instant.

The game is a gorgeous looking twist on the roguelike template that sees you stomping through subterranean hell holes grabbing loot, killing monsters, and trying to find the key that’ll get you to the next level alive. We loved it enough that it earned a near-perfect score in our review when it launched on iOS earlier this year.

Every move you make, which is as simple as tapping on the screen, uncovers new squares on the map. They might be empty, but more likely than not they’ll contain slobbering beasts that want to murder you. And nobody wants to get murdered by slobbering beasts.

Imagine Minesweeper crossed with a wander through a dank pit and you’re about half way there. There’s a good chunk of progression here and playing smart is important if you want to get as deep as possible into the game.

Dungelot: Shattered Lands is available right now for Android devices. It’s a premium game, unlike its predecessor, but it’s well worth the investment if you’re into dark places, puzzles, and a little bit of theft.

Simon has been playing portable games since his Game Boy Pocket and a very worn out copy of Donkey Kong Land 2, and he has no intention of stopping anytime soon. Playing Donkey Kong Land 2 that is. And games in general we suppose.
