Escape Rosecliff Island Review
Played one "HOG" - or "hidden object game" - and you've played them all? That depends, as some game makers attempt to add a few twists to the popular casual game genre in order to keep things fresh and fun.SpinTop Games' just-launched Escape Rosecliff Island doesn't mess with the formula much - in fact, some may argue it has delivered virtually the same game as one of its predecessors (read on) - but still proves to be a fun object-hunting game with atmospheric graphics and enjoyable mini-games. If you don't mind a recycled experience, that is.After a nasty storm you find yourself shipwrecked on a remote island, and so you must visit various locations, solve puzzles and find items you need to help get you off.Sea Journey Review
By David Becker
Eye patches, parrots, wodden legs, black flags and treasures - these are the first associations that come to mind when I think of pirates. Not all of them are present in Sea Journey, a new addition to the battle match-3 genre by DivoGames that lets the player experience thrilling sea battles and quests for gold and treasure. The superb presentation is a plus, while the basic gameplay will remind some gamers of Puzzle Quest. So, is Sea Journey just another clone, or is it as good as the presentation implies?Annie’s Millions Review
Why wait until you're dead before your will is read? It's more fun to see your heirs sweat it out and battle over your money. At least that's the idea behind Annie's Millions, a quirky hidden object game that has you shopping like mad to win Uncle Dave's millions. The story is the most interesting part of the game. Uncle Dave D'Nero decides he'd rather pass his riches while he's still alive. The trouble is, he's not sure who to give it to. As his niece, Annie is surprised to find herself involved in a rather funny competition. In order to win Uncle Dave's money, she must spend 1 million dollars quicker and more efficiently than her cousins, posh and fancy Milly, and sports-obsessed Carl.Mean Girls: High School Showdown Review
Let's get real here. How many of us think high school was a fun time in our lives that ran smoothly? Ok, not counting the popular kids. Mean Girls brings back everything from high school, from cliques, teachers, sports and dull subjects to love, backstabbing, friendship, frenemies and enemies, rolled into a Puzzle Quest-style match-3 game with a 'tude.Mae Q`West and the Sign of the Stars Review
By Erin Bell
There are some good ideas in Mae Q'West and the Sign of the Stars, a hidden object game starring a woman who's trying to find her long-lost husband by following messages left for her in her daily horoscope. Unfortunately, the game's roughness around the edges might be too much for some players to overcome.Women’s Murder Club: A Darker Shade of Grey Review
As more and more hidden object games are released, it sometimes feels like the best we can hope for is one that isn't terrible, because finding one that's truly great is a pipe dream. And then a game like Women's Murder Club: A Darker Shade of Grey comes along and reminds us that even in a genre cluttered with repetitious and sloppily-made junk, you can still find examples of brilliance and ingenuity.Plant This! Review
Tower defense games - simple tactical battles played out in real-time where you attempt to build a range of strategic roadblocks and turrets to guard against onrushing hordes - are hugely popular on home PCs. Plant This!, which despite its general lack of polish, comes correct where it counts most: Furiously addictive play. Capable of taxing both one's wits and reflexes, it's a great way to kill 15 minutes here and there without having to shift your brain completely into neutral.Tropical Dream: Underwater Odyssey Review
Tropical Dream: Underwater Odyssey is a strategy/time management game that will take you to the depths of the ocean where you'll try to beat the clock while snapping breathtaking underwater pictures and finding hidden treasures. The game tells the story of Megan, a young woman who is stressed out by city life and decides to head to the sea to pursue her true passion of diving into deep tropical waters. Megan realizes she has quite the talent for deep sea photography, and learns that people will pay for her beautiful pictures and the antiques she finds on the ocean floor.
