Torchlight Review
By Jim Squires
The dungeon crawler. It's a time-honored tradition amongst gamers. Whether we're talking Dungeon Siege, Titan Quest or the more casual-friendly FATE, nearly everyone has played a game about killing orcs and selling pants. Well - almost everyone. The genre has always seemed more intimidating than need be, and Torchlight is looking to change that. We don't want to go out on a limb here, but this might just be the first dungeon-crawler that's fun, simple, and accessible to everyone.10 Days to Save the World Review
In 10 Days under the Sea, Diana and her sister found an amulet. The sequel, 10 Days to Save the World, picks up two years after these events, when people begin to suspect that the amulet could be causing the cataclysms like flooding in Africa and a drought in Venice. Diana must work with her father, an archaeologist, to figure out how to save the world. Although, the story gets lost and barely registers a sense of urgency, the diversity of puzzles in the hidden object adventure game keeps you engrossed.Scratches – Director’s Cut Review
Scratches: Director's Cut is a horror game, but not the kind that relies on cheap scares to spook players. Instead, it depends on atmosphere and subtle details to unnerve, and, despite a few stumbles along the way, it does a great job. The game stars Michael Arthate, a horror author struggling to finish his second novel. In an attempt to isolate himself from the world and complete his book, he takes up residence in a large estate in a small, rural town in England. Unfortunately for him, the house has a long, dark history involving a grizzly murder by a crazed husband. Eventually he gets tangled up in a story that could've been ripped from one of his novels, which all begins when he starts hearing noises around the house: the titular scratches.Valerie Porter and the Scarlet Scandal Review
Corruption. Lies. Sex. Betrayal. Murder. There's a big story waiting to be told in hidden object game Valerie Porter and the Scarlet Scandal, and you're just the plucky reporter to do it! This is your big chance to make your name as a journalist, so search for clues and follow your hunches but be careful who you trust - not everyone is what they seem.Hostile Makeover Review
Hostile Makeover is a hidden object game based off Ellen Byerrum's chick-lit mystery novel and the Lifetime television movie by the same name. While the twisty plot is heavily inspired by both, the game's storyline takes off in a few new directions of its own. Like the book and movie, the game's protagonist is sassy Lacey Smithsonian, a fashion reporter and writer for the Eye Street Observer. When someone starts shooting bullets instead of photos, Lacey becomes a witness to murder. The victim, Amanda Manville, was a popular model and fashion designer with her fair share of enemies.Danger Next Door: Miss Teri Tale’s Adventure Review
By Erin Bell
I can't count the number of times I've been disappointed by a sequel that make the same mistakes as the game that came before it in the series with no effort to improve. Or worse, a sequel that's actually less fun than its predecessor. I'm very happy to report that Danger Next Door: Miss Teri Tale doesn't fall into that trap. Episode three of the Miss Teri Tale series, which up to this point has been lackluster, is bursting with newfound style and creativity. When we catch up with Teri at the beginning of the game, she's now the mayor of Peeking Town and has made Monty deputy mayor. Unfortunately, however, Monty is found dead at a party thrown by Mike, the town's newest resident, and Teri offers to help solve the crime.Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 4 Review
It was bound to happen eventually. After releasing three increasingly wonderful episodes, the Tales of Monkey Island series has finally taken a step back. Now that's not to say that Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 4 - The Trial and Execution of Guybrush Threepwood is bad -- far from it in fact -- it's just that, for the first time, the latest entry in the series isn't the best.World Train Royale Review
By David Becker
Don't judge a book by its cover. This saying, along with the ability to be patient, should be kept in mind when it comes to World Train Royale, a new game by developer versus-software. The combination of match-3, time management, and tycoon elements surely sounds promising, but as always the mixture of different genres can be a tricky case. While the game is far from perfect, players who enjoy details and a real challenge might still get hooked on it easily.
