With this third installment in the fantastic Drawn series, Big Fish continues to set the standard that all other puzzle/adventure games should aspire to. In Trail of Shadows, you meet a grandfather figure speaking to a young girl named Iris. Through his bedtime story, we learn of a young boy with the power to bring his paintings to life. One painting however, was better left in the boy's imagination, as it unleashes a terrible wizard that draws the boy inside and traps him there, ruining the rest of the boy's painted worlds along the way.
Another day, another dollar, another town facing disaster thanks to the supernatural shenanigans of a woman with a grudge: that's Guardians of Beyond: Witchville, a new hidden object game that doesn't score any points for originality but still manages to serve up a very enjoyable experience.
Orcs Must Die! may look like an action game, but it's actually a clever and refreshing take on tower defense. Yes, you control a hero and battle it out with monsters, but you also lay traps and battle enemies in waves. It's a game that seamlessly blends two seemingly disparate genres into something unique and fun and very, very bloody.
It's fairly common for hidden object games to turn to history, myth and legend for their inspiration, but the range of cultural traditions they reference is often woefully narrow. The Dark Hills of Cherai: The Regal Scepter, from Indian developer Chayowo Games, forgoes the overused Victorian mansion/Celtic ruin/19th century village themes to create its own unique brand of hidden object gameplay, wrapped artfully up in the magic and lore of India.
Tribloos will come as a very pleasant surprise for anyone looking for an excellent time-management/building game. Don't let the simplistic graphics turn you off. There is a lot more to this game than meets the eye, and it will definitely challenge you if you plan to master every level.
I had to force myself to quit playing Triple Town in order to write this review, which might give you some idea of just how addicting it is. It's almost scary. One minute I was logging in with the intention of taking a few screenshots and verifying a few notes, and the next I was grumbling that an hour had gone by and I hadn't written a word. Triple Town was already incredible when it made its first appearance on the Kindle almost exactly a year ago, but this new Facebook release manages to improve on what even then seemed like an almost perfect puzzle strategy game. Combining challenge, fun, and gameplay that can last for hours or minutes, Triple Town is everything a casual game should be.
If you have played any of the previous games in the Blackwell series you already know the basic story. For those who haven't, I highly recommend you give them a try. Blackwell Deception is the fourth game in the series. You play the characters of Rosangela Blackwell, a somewhat reluctant medium, and her spirit guide Joey Malone. Working together they help wandering spirits accept their deaths and cross over.
The world of fashion can be a glamorous dream and a cutthroat business at the same time, and the player can experience this first-hand in Juliette's Fashion Empire, a new time management game by Alawar. In a gaming experience that can be described as a mixture of the Sally series and Pageant Princess, it's up to the player to help Juliette succeed with glitz and style.
