Fluxx Review
Tabletop card games - especially the kind that hobby gamers play - can be a lot of things. Deep, strategic, complex; all of these are words you might expect to hear. But Fluxx is none of these. While it may appeal to the same hobbyist market as games like Catan and Carcassonne, Fluxx is just about as silly and simple as games can get. But that's ok - sometimes silly and simple is exactly what the doctor ordered.
City Conquest Review
It's something of a given these days that developers have done everything they can do with the tower defense genre; the only solution, it seems, is to take what works and turn it on its head. In this case, Intelligence Engine Design System has attempted what could have turned out to be the Frankenstein's monster of casual gaming: Over a solid skeleton of real time strategy elements that should sit well with fans of city builders as well, they've stitched together fragments of the some of the best traditional tower defense games on the market. It's a testament to their skill that the end result attracts rather than repulses.
PLAYMOBIL Pirates Review
Growing up, I knew Playmobil only as a company that made cool toys of pirates and knights that were too expensive to buy without getting a job, which turned out to be illegal before age 10. Modern kids have it easier, as Playmobil Pirates from Playmobil Interactive and Gameloft lets them build their own pirate island and sail out for adventure for free on their iPhones or iPads. Lucky whippersnappers.
Barn Yarn Review
Grandpa Joe and his Grandson Tom have bought a barn for their farm, and they should probably get out more, because they're way too excited about the whole thing. In particular, they're excited by the idea that they might one day be able to afford to buy a tractor, which will be a monumental day and something they have so far only dared to dream about.

Developer Toca Boca have made their name creating hugely imaginative and charming apps for children. One of the earliest offerings was Toca Hair Salon, a game that let the youngsters style the hair of a variety of bizarre characters. For the first time, rather than building something brand new, Toca Boca have opted to release a sequel with Toca Hair Salon 2. Have they overplayed their hand in building on laurels rather than continuing the creative streak that made them famous?
Dark Mysteries: The Soul Keeper Review
In the H.P. Lovecraft-inspired Dark Mysteries: The Soul Keeper, players will work alongside Charles Dexter Ward to stop an evil spirit from murdering the inhabitants of Pawtuxet, and stealing their souls to achieve immortality. Based on the short Lovecraft novel The Case of Charles Dexter Ward, this dark hidden object adventure is filled with restless spirits and grisly supernatural affairs, but offers little in terms of memorable thrills or edge-of-your-seat excitement.
