Hundreds Review
By Eli Cymet
If you play games on a phone or tablet, you'd be hard pressed not to have heard of Adam Saltsman's Canabalt. The iconic endless runner was recently admitted to New York's Museum of Modern Art as a poster-child for bite-sized play. If Canabalt is a reflection of app gaming's origins, then it's arguable that Saltsman's latest project - Hundreds - is a snapshot of where it's at today.Nightmare Realm: In the End… Review
By John Anthony
After surviving a hellish fate in the first Nightmare Realm, Emily has grown into a thoughtful teenage girl. But her diary reveals an inner life plagued with visions of another realm, one filled with twisted towers and malefic beings. Those fears ring true when Emily receives a mysterious letter and is suddenly possessed by a spectre that causes her to draw a portal to another realm. Looks like this nightmare is far from over.Push The Box Review
It's been a strangely amicable few years for green pigs: in 2012, we helped the previously-villainous Angry Birds antagonists build contraptions in Bad Piggies. Now in 2013, we're helping to rescue what I can only assume are their distant relatives (how many breeds of green pig can there be?) in Push the Box. Next you'll be telling me green eggs and ham are off the menu.D.O.T. Defender of Texel Review
By Rob Rich
D.O.T. Defender of Texel is a freemium mobile game produced by Mobage, and as such it adheres to many of the publisher's typical mechanics. Questing, boss fights, PvP, elite team building, fusion and evolution, and so on all play a major role. But as similar as it may be in spirit to its brethren, the presentation - the gorgeous, fantastic, tongue-in-cheek presentation - makes it feel like something entirely unique and special.Spirits of Mystery: The Dark Minotaur Review
Alright, let's admit it; ERS Game Studios needs to slow down. The company's latest hidden object adventure, Spirits of Mystery: The Dark Minotaur, is a product—some might say a victim—of ERS's breakneck publishing pace, and as such feels sloppily designed, narratively muddled and distinctly recycled.Haypi Monster Review
By Rob Rich
Pretty much every iOS gamer has thought about the possibility of playing their favorite monster-battling Nintendo game at one point or another. Unfortunately the Big N doesn't seem to share their enthusiasm. But that's okay, because now we have Haypi Monster. It's not exactly a 1:1 experience, but it's probably as close as an iOS developer has come so far. And it's free-to-play, no less!Megapolis Review
By Nick Tylwalk
Casual gaming isn't just fun, it's also educational. Take Megapolis, the cross-platform city builder from Social Quantum. I assumed the developers made up that word just because it sounded cool. Turns out it's actually a legitimate alternate form of megalopolis, which is exactly what you could learn to build by playing on Facebook, iOS or Android. Just be prepared for a definite feeling of deja vu if you do.Break the Curse: The Crimson Gems Review
By John Anthony
When you mix an adventure game with good old fashioned Dark Age lore, you've got a recipe for a captivating game. Break the Curse: The Crimson Gems lays on the story and atmosphere in heavy strokes, filling you with both fear and awe as you pursue a sorceress who has kidnapped a pair of local performers. And along the way, you'll find out just how good you are at mini-games!
