DragonVale celebrates 2nd Anniversary with new Light & Dark update
By Joe Jasko
Do you know exactly how many dragons you've hatched in DragonVale over the last two years since the insanely popular social game was first released into the world? Well Backflip Studios could give you a pretty close estimate - and that number adds up to a whole lot of dragon babies flapping around. To commemorate the huge success of the game, and to give back to its legions of dedicated players, Backflip Studios has a few fun surprises in store for DragonVale players starting today. To celebrate this monumental 2-year achievement, which included over 750 consecutive days of being in the iOS Top 50 Grossing U.S. charts, Backflip Studios has hatched a brand new title update for the game today called "Light & Dark," which includes 38 brand new dragon types across both "Light" and "Dark" designations, as well as a special Light & Dark community event. The unique event itself lets players vote on whether they want the Light or Dark dragons to dominate the skies in the future of DragonVale. Backflip Studios has also released a pretty neat infograph for DragonVale alongside this exciting announcement, which contains some cool tidbits and other facts on how much the game has really grown since its initial launch in 2011. For instance, over 600 million dragon eggs have been hatched in the game to date, and roughly 38,034 years of time have been played across all users, with an average of 133 play sessions per player. The game has enjoyed over 25 million downloads worldwide, with the highest concentration of DragonVale downloads originating in the United States, Denmark, and Australia. Furthermore, the most sought-after dragons currently include the Panlong Dragon, the Rainbow Dragon, and the Bluefire Dragon. You can take a peek at the full colored infograph over on the Backflip Studios official "2 Years" page, and get a glimpse of the teaser trailer for the Light & Dark update right within this article. The new content can be accessed via a free update to DragonVale that has just gone live today. It's time to get back to hatching!Free Games and Sales: World of Goo, The Testament of Sherlock Holmes and more!

I guess I really couldn't blame you, because who needs a couple of introductory paragraphs when some of your next favorite and discounted games are only a short mouse scroll away! And this week certainly has a lot of alluring sales to take in, from massive catalogue sales for big-name developers like Electronic Arts and Capcom, to some fantastic indie bundles that pack on the great games like they just don't care!"Well hopefully at least you'll catch a glimpse of this final intro paragraph, because if I happened to miss any great sales or deals that are floating around out there at the moment, I would certainly want you to keep us all in the loop by writing about them down in the replies!Chop Chop Ninja TV show moves into production
By Jim Squires
The wheels of television production might take some time to turn, but they turn all the same. Back in March of 2012, Gamezebo broke the news of a partnership between Montreal-based developer Gamerizon and the Canadian television network TELETOON that would result in a series of cartoons based on the Chop Chop Ninja universe. Now, 19 months later, more details have emerged.Chop Chop Ninja Challenge will be a series of 39 shorts, each one and a half minutes in length, featuring four characters "as they compete in individual challenges that test their skills," says the official press release. It's being developed alongside fellow Montrealers Sardine Productions.Looking for something a little more long-form? Don't worry - we've been told that a full-length series is in development with TELETOON as well. You can expect to see Chop Chop Ninja make the jump from phone to TV sometime in 2014.Bad Hotel comes to Steam October 16th
By Jim Squires
You know what's even better than playing a game so good that it earns a perfect score on Gamezebo? Seeing that same game jump in front of a whole new audience. On October 16, developer Lucky Frame will be bringing their iOS strategy/music hybrid to PC and Mac gamers via Steam."Bad Hotel got an amazing reception when we released it on iOS, including getting nominated for a prestigious IGF Award for Excellence in Audio," Lucky Frame's Yann Seznec told Gamezebo. "Being a nominee in 2013 meant that we got an automatic Steam release agreement, which was an incredible opportunity for us - it can be quite difficult for indie devs like us to get a game onto Steam, so it was not an opportunity we could pass up."If you're worried about touch controls not translating well to a keyboard and mouse, don't worry. Yann tells us that "the tapping/swiping controls from the original version actually work quite well with a mouse." In fact, the only real changes you'll notice are peripheral bonuses. "The art style for Bad Hotel is so cool that we thought it would be a waste not to make all of the trading cards, backgrounds, and achievements that Steam supports."Can't wait to check it out for yourself? You'll be able to snag Bad Hotel for $4.99 when it launches on Steam on October 16.Ayopa Games announce unique new bullet-hell shooter called Don’t Shoot Yourself!
By Joe Jasko
Don't shoot yourself. You would think that such a simple piece of advice like that would more or less already be ingrained in the brains of everyone capable of even reading it, but when it comes to the latest puzzle arcade shooter from Ayopa Games and developer Silverware Games, those three simple words are the means by which you'll succeed or fail in a flurry of gunfire.Because the primary enemies in Don't Shoot Yourself! are actually your ship's own bullets. There are 100 of them, in fact, in each level, and you'll need to constantly avoid the continuous barrage of bullets until all 100 have been fired, and then a final magic blue bullet is released which blows open the physical constraints of the current stage and allows you to fly merrily on your way, your ship hull intact. The biggest part of the gameplay in Don't Shoot Yourself! revolves around the walls themselves in each of the game's 50 themed levels, as different wall types and surfaces will cause your bullets to ricochet back at you using different kinds of physics. A sleek minimalist design permeates the entire adventure, and quick thinking is a must if you want to make it to see the challenging boss levels, or stake your claim in the infinite survival mode. But above all else, the game is just really going to teach everyone a simple life lesson: don't shoot yourself. Seriously, just don't do it. There are too many video game enemies out there in the world for you to just be taken out by a little self-friendly fire. Don't Shoot Yourself! is currently slated for an iOS release on November 13, 2013.New update brings teenagers to The Sims FreePlay
