Another Puzzle & Dragons and Clash of Clans special event has just gone live
By Joe Jasko
This week, GungHo Online Entertainment has announced a second batch of cross-promotional content that is set to blend the world of GungHo's smash mobile hit Puzzle & Dragons with Supercell's equally successful Clash of Clans. The first collaboration between these two companies occurred earlier this summer, which saw a special dungeon and exclusive Clash of Clans monsters being incorporated into the Puzzle & Dragons game.Well this time around, Puzzle & Dragons players will now have access to yet another Clash of Clans-themed dungeon, which features four different difficulty levels, and culminates in an epic battle against The Crimson Dragon. Other unique monster types to be found in the limited crossover event include the Barbarian, Healer, Goblin, Archer, and the P.E.K.K.A. unit. Furthermore, each new character is said to have its own special attack, and a unique evolution that is dependent upon certain Puzzle & Dragons elemental orbs."The latest collaboration between Puzzle & Dragons and Clash of Clans is available right now in-game, and will run through October 27, 2013. Will you be taking a look this week to see how two of the most successful mobile game franchises are going to be working together once again? Be sure to let us know in the replies! How NaturalMotion is becoming the next generation of games companies
NaturalMotion Games's CEO Torsten Reil spoke at last week's Gaming Insiders Summit. In a presentation titled "Building a next generation games company," he spoke little about the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and more about the history of NaturalMotion Games and how the company is trying to prepare itself for further success down the road. The company has seen numerous successes and failures, but the one constant has been Reil's commitment to innovate and adapt.NaturalMotion's big break came in the form of their Euphoria physics engine, originally used in Grand Theft Auto IV, as well as later games. The company also began development on various pay to play games, from the Backbreaker series to mobile versions of various board games, such as Jenga. Releasing these pay to play titles wasn't really delivering the results that Reil and his team were hoping for, which lead to the 2011 release of NaturalMotion's first free to play game, My Horse. It was simply a game about taking care of (and interacting with) a horse."While My Horse wasn't the breakout success the company was hoping for, it taught Reil and his team some lessons about what players want out of their experience. Most importantly, players want to have some sort of emotional connection with what they're playing, especially a sense of ownership. This led to the team brainstorming ideas of how to implement this into a game. It eventually led to the creation of NaturalMotion's mobile hit CSR Racing. Reil explained how there were already quality mobile racing games at the time, such as Real Racing 2. However, none of the existing titles could pass the "Starbucks test" of being able to complete a race while waiting for your drink at a coffee shop.Free Games and Sales: The Thumb Arcade iPhone Bundle, The Humble Bundle with Android 7 and more!

You know what I've just realized? So how are you? What is your favorite color? What are your hopes and dreams?Alright, I'm sorry, I just can't do it. Call me selfish, call me what you will, but I'd much rather use this space to talk about all of the free and discounted games you'll be able to pick up this weekend instead! We've got some big price cuts on some of our favorite Worms games to come out recently, not to mention a brand new Humble Bundle with cross-platform Android support, and even the very first sales bundle on iPhone games!"So instead of telling me all about your hopes and dreams, why not just tell me about any great free games or sales I may have missed in the replies? And just in case you were wondering, my favorite color was green, and then it was blue, and now I say it is clear.Worms 3 gets new Terraria-themed update
By Joe Jasko
There's nothing cooler to me than when two successful and respectable mobile games decide to team up for a special event that bridges together some of our favorite game worlds. Pulling double duty as a spooky Halloween update and an insanely cool cross-promotional tie-in to the cult sandbox crafting game Terraria, the latest Worms 3 update from Team17 features a number of fun and seasonal customization items and accessories to keep your worms looking stylish on the battlefield this October.Judging from the first released screenshots of the update in action, some of these new Halloween accessories include pointy witch hats, creepy skull and wolf masks, and the humorous "nail through the head" gag - just what every worm cadet needs!"On the flipside, the new content based on Re-Logic's Terraria, which also just celebrated a mobile release on iOS and Android recently, will bring more exciting customization items onto the battlefield, like the Molten Helmet, Hallowed Mask, Mythril Hood, Mining Helmet, Top Hat, and Archaeologist's Hat. You'll also find 5 Terraria-themed gravestones for when your worms bite the dust, and even an exclusive Terraria speechbank. The coolest thing about the new Worms 3 update is that all of the Terraria content retains the pixelated 2D look and feel of the sandbox game, as it meshes awesomely with the new 3D style of the Worms series. The Halloween and Terraria update is live right now in Worms 3, and to celebrate its release, Team17 is currently offering the fantastic strategy game at a discounted price of $0.99 for a limited time only, so you'd better act now!Gameloft’s My Little Pony gets new Equestria Girls update

With two successful Kickstarter campaigns and dozens of releases under his belt, inXile Entertainment's Brian Fargo knows a thing or two about the video game industry. Speaking at the Gaming Insiders Summit on Thursday, Fargo talked about the origins of Wasteland 2 and Torment: Tides of Numenera, inXile's efforts to constantly involve their fans, and how crowdsourcing looks to become permanent fixture in the industry, if it's utilized well.Together, Wasteland 2 and Torment both raised over $7 million. Fargo explained that the crowdfunding industry (combining all sites and projects, not just Kickstarter and games) is projected to bring in $3 billion this year. Fans of games and other projects are obviously demanding content and products that publishers aren't willing to support. As Fargo discussed, the only way to satisfy the desires of that crowd is to build something without the backing of a publisher. While he didn't directly condemn publishers, he did provide a good argument as to why crowdsourcing is the best route for developers, regardless of their history or affiliations.New iOS Games Tonight: Device 6, Mimpi and more!
By Joe Jasko
Sometimes when I'm just sitting here, waiting for it to be midnight so I can play all of the great new mobile games that are coming out, I like to ponder some of the bigger questions about life, death, and the universe. I usually tend to start with a few tough ones, like "What are we doing here?" and "What is my purpose?" before moving on to the really important ones, like "What's the deal with airplane food these days?"Interestingly enough, a lot of tonight's biggest mobile releases dip into these subject matters of life, death, and the universe as well! You'll trek across all ends of the earth as a courageous dog to make sure your missing owner is found alive. You'll see what happens when two pixels accidentally collide and die. And you'll even take a baseball bat and send some wacky rabbits straight into the next universe.Kingdom Rush: Frontiers to introduce new Shadowmoon Campaign in Halloween update
