Gamezebo Cribs: Metrogames edition
With a diverse line-up of social and mobile games that includes titles like Tea4Friends, Auto Hustle, and Fashion World, Metrogames boasts nearly six million monthly active users worldwide, and that's on Facebook aline. And with headquarters in Buenos Aires, Argentina, it's also part of one of the fastest growing regions in gaming. In this latest edition of Gamezebo Cribs we head into the offices of Metrogames to see what the game development studio looks like on the inside.Gamezebo Cribs: Nexon edition
Nexon is best known for its free-to-play online games, and especially for the role playing sensation MapleStory, which has recently seen spin-offs on both Facebook and the iPhone. The developer has also created well known online games like Combat Arms and KartRider, and recently made moves to expand its presence in the world of social gaming by investing in the newly formed 6waves Lolapps. In this edition of Gamezebo Cribs we head deep inside Nexon's American offices to see where those games get made.Gamezebo Cribs: Brawsome edition
We're closing out week one of Gamezebo Cribs by heading down under to check out the home office of indie developer Brawsome. The studio, of course, is behind the excellent point-and-click adventure Jolly Rover and is currently hard at work on the puzzle-adventure game MacGuffin's Curse. Let's follow Brawsome's Andrew Goulding as he takes on a tour of where those excellent games get made.Maybe HTML5 is the Real Deal After All?
By Joel Brodie
During my panel Hype vs Reality at Casual Connect this year (where panelists debate whether a game trend is hype or the real deal, watch it here), everyone on the panel proclaimed HTML5 hype. It will be big because it is write once, play everywhere, but not now.Well, HTML5 may become big sooner than later. Techcrunch has an interesting write-up on the Game Closure, which provides technology and SDK for developers to create HTML5-based multiplayer games on iOS, Android, and Facebook. In other HTML 5 news, GameSalad, a leading platform enabling anyone to create their own HTML 5 games with little or no programming experience, has their first big viral hit on their hands. Angry Anna is an Angry Birds-inspired game which takes on the subject of corruption in Indian politics.Gamezebo Cribs: Kabam edition
Our next subject on Gamezebo Cribs has made a name for itself crafting deep strategy games on Facebook. Games like Global Warfare, Edgeworld, and the upcoming The Godfather: Five Families. Of course we're talking about Kabam. But while the developer's games may be rather serious, it looks like there's quite a bit of fun and games around the office. Join us on a tour full of cute dogs, tasty cupcakes, and some snazzy soccer jerseys.Gamezebo Cribs: Amaranth Games edition
This time on Gamezebo Cribs, we go indie. Down in Bellevue, Washington Amanda Fitch and the team at Amaranth Games craft some great casual role playing games, including the long-running (and quite excellent!) Aveyond series, the most recent of which launched late last year. Not only that, the studio also operates Amaranthia.com, a web portal dedicated to providing the best in light-hearted RPGs and adventure games. You know you want to see where all those games get made, so join Amanda as she gives us a tour of the studio's home office.Gamezebo Cribs: wooga edition
In this latest edition of Gamezebo Cribs we're heading to Berlin, Germany to take a good look at where the folks at wooga work. In case you didn't know, since being founded just two years ago wooga has managed to become not only the biggest social game developer in Europe with over 35 million monthly active users, but one of the biggest in the world as well. And it's all thanks to games like Diamond Dash and Bubble Island, as well as more recent releases like Magic Land. Soon you'll be seeing wooga games on mobile platforms as well. Let's take a look at where all those games get made.Gamezebo Cribs: Playrix edition
Welcome to the very first installment of Gamezebo Cribs! Over the next two weeks we're going to be taking you on a worldwide adventure, giving you a behind the scenes look at where your favorite casual games are made. To kick things off we're headed to Vologda, Russia to see where the good folks at Playrix create hit games like 4 Elements II, Royal Envoy, and of course the Fishdom series. Playrix both develops and publishes games across a variety of platforms, including PC, mobile, and Facebook, and has become one of the top names in casual gaming since it was founded in 2004. So follow us as the good folks at Playrix take us on a photo tour of their offices.
