Pitfall swings back onto mobile devices
It was just a week or so ago when I wrote Six Atari franchises that should see a reboot, a list commemorating Atari's 40th birthday. Unknown to everyone but my Editor-in-Chief, and I, this post was originally complete with seven titles. The secret franchise that I needed to drop? Pitfall - it's by Activision, not Atari! Because of this, I couldn't help but find it ironic that Activision would be the first to answer my call for a reboot: it looks like a rebooted Pitfall is coming to mobile platforms.SQUIDS return in their very own comic book
One thing that stood out about SQUIDS Wild West (and its predecessor SQUIDS) was its characters. They felt like they were pulled straight out of a Saturday morning cartoon. Not only did each character have a distinct look and personality, the game's story was solid too -- humorous, well-paced and dramatic, without taking itself too seriously. The Angry Birds pig spin-off rumor is back – but is it real this time?
By Jim Squires
Rumors are a funny thing. Sometimes so much time passes after they happen that people forgot they existed in the first place. Back in 2010, Rovio's CEO Peter Vesterbacka reportedly told a crowd at the Virtual Goods Summit that "We are not going to do a sequel. We want to surprise people. No one has told the story from the pigs point of view." That led to plenty of speculation… followed by 18 months of complete silence on the topic.Replay Wednesdays: Cthulhu Saves the World, Kingdom Rush, and more!
By Jim Squires
We cover plenty of new games here at Gamezebo every week, but the number of games we've already covered that show up on new platforms? It's staggering. Starting this Wednesday and continuing every week, we'll be rounding up the games that aren't quite new, but might be new to you depending on your platform of choice.Six explosive games to celebrate Independence Day
"Ooooh." "Ahhhh." "Oh, look at that one, it's in the shape of a smiley face!" Today is officially Independence Day for the United States of America, and as good man Thomas Jefferson once said: "It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations". While Jefferson didn't get everything that he wanted (he'd be rolling in his grave at the cost of college tuition), he definitely got the yearly illuminations.I’d buy THAT for $99: A top-tier hackable Android console on the way?
By Eli Cymet
Amid talk of mobile's explosive growth and new forces entering the war for console supremacy, the hot button question always seems to be "when is Apple going to make a game system?" As if the answer will bring with it the revolution in home entertainment. Today, however, concrete news of a dirt cheap new machine hit the airwaves. And its makers? They seem to be betting on Android.Games of the Month – June 2012
By Jim Squires
While there are plenty of great games that Gamezebo manages to review every month, picking the best of the best isn't usually too difficult of a proposition. No matter how good releases might be, there's usually something every month that stands head and shoulders above the rest. But in June 2012? There were so many 5 star games that we honestly lost count.EA is prepared for a digital future
By Dant Rambo
In a recent interview with GamesIndustry, EA Labels president Frank Gibeau expressed his certainty in the company becoming "100% digital." As bold as it sounds at first blush, it isn't necessarily a change in direction for the company. They've been heavily invested in mobile and social platforms for a while now, and it's proven to be a massive success for them financially. And let's not forget the launch of the Origin platform.
