The week in gaming news: December 16, 2011 edition
Snow is on the ground. Shops are filled with Christmas music. And you probably still have a lot of shopping yet to do. Yep, the holidays are almost here. Seriously, Christmas is next weekend. How crazy is that? The week before the week before the big day wasn't especially busy in terms of gaming news, but there were still plenty of notable stories. Best Sequels of 2011
As much as we like to see new and innovative games, sometimes it's nice to return to a familiar favorite. Sequels let us do this and the best are able to make the experience even better than you remember. 2011 was a great year for sequels, with excellent new releases across some of the biggest franchises in casual gaming. Here are our five favorites.

Free-to-play Command and Conquer game coming to a browser near you
EA's long-running strategy Command and Conquer series is getting a new entry, and it will mark a number of firsts for the franchise. Subtitled Tiberium Alliances, the game is described as an "epic strategy MMO" that will use the free-to-play model and be playable in a web browser.
Plants vs Zombies hip-hop track now on iTunes, proceeds go to charity
Remember when Plants vs Zombies' Crazy Dave released a hip-hop video on YouTube? Well now you can buy the track with proceeds from the sale going towards charity.
