RealGames has appointed two social networking veterans to its executive team, the company announced today. Jeff Revoy, formerly of Yahoo!, steps into the newly-created role of vice president of social games, while former Real VP of Engineering Wilf Russell has been promoted to chief technology officer.

As VP of social games, Revoy will be responsible for leading RealGames’ expanding social games business. A veteran of the IT industry for more than 20 years, he spent six years at Yahoo! in senior roles in the U.S. and overseas. As vice president of search, local and social media, Revoy held global responsibility for Yahoo! Answers, an Internet community site that saw over 130 million monthly unique users and 1 billion page views under his leadership. Most recently, Revoy served as president of the Interactive Services group at CenturyLink, a Fortune 500 telecommunications company.

Russell, who has more than 25 years of experience in the software industry, joined RealGames last year as vice president of engineering. Russell came to RealGames from MySpace, where he also served as vice president of engineering and oversaw the development and day-to-day management of engineering facilities delivering numerous products and services. In his new role as chief technology officer, Russell will oversee the integration of RealGames’ download, online, social and mobile gaming platforms and customer ecosystems.

Revoy and Russell are the latest additions to a management team hand-picked by RealGames President John Barbour, who took over the position in November, 2008.

“As the digital games segment continues to grow and evolve at an explosive pace, we believe the companies who effectively create, deliver and monetize the best games across vast customer ecosystems and multiple devices will emerge as market leaders,” said Barbour in a statement.”Our team has helped establish RealGames as a leader in the download, online, social and mobile gaming segments worldwide, and we are excited to have Jeff and Wilf on board to help integrate and extend the significant groundwork already laid.”
