    The Settlers of Catan revolutionised board gaming when the world discovered what was originally a German family game in the mid- to late- nineties. But its model of shrewd trading and racing to grow in a limited space didn't work with two players. So a card version was released to fill that gap, recently re-released as Rivals for Catan and now released again for iOS.

The iconic economy-based settlement challenge has seen over a dozen iterations, from expansions and dice games to card games. Heck, there's even a Star Trek version on the way. Adding to the franchise's digital collection will be will be USM's next effort: the Rivals for Catan card game.

    The Island of Catan is a happening place. It's a hopping chunk of land that's so laden with resources that it has to beat settlers off with a big stick. Everyone wants to stake their claim to a major piece of this hexagonal floating rock in a quest for supreme colonial dominance, but they'll have to plan their turf expansion and resource gathering very carefully if they want to come out ahead. Though it never quite comes to physical blows, this island competition can get pretty cutthroat in a hurry.
