If the Toy Story movies taught us anything, it's that toys have minds of their own. It might be more than one step from free will to organized tower attack and defense drills, but Toy Rush skips everything in-between and gives us toys battling toys with a collectible card game element thrown in for good measure. It's as zany as it sounds, yet it'll have you sending toys to their doom by the dozens without even batting an eye.Toy Rush manages to nail the balance that many games seek but can't find: it makes its core mechanics simple to learn but challenging to master. Each toy in your collection is represented by a card, and when you are on the attack, you simply drag cards onto the starting point of the level in question and watch your playthings go to work.
Outland Games Review
Outland Games is ostensibly based on the same world as Uber Entertainment's Monday Night Combat and Super Monday Night Combat. However, hardcore team-based third-person shooters don't exactly make for the easiest port to touch devices. So rather than a half-featured port, the developers went with something that fit smartphone gaming a little better. Yes, it's yet another 2D endless running game, but through polish and humor it is still worth a look.Super Monday Night Combat Review
The original Monday Night Combat was a breakout Xbox Live Arcade hit that shouldn't have been one. In the crowded online multiplayer scene dominated by the likes of the Call of Duty, Halo and Gears of War franchises, a little independent title shouldn't be terribly successful - but time has proven it to be one of Xbox Live Arcade's biggest games. The blending of elements from Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike, tower defense, and a whole lot of Defense of the Ancients hit the right chord for many people, myself included.
