After Burner Climax Review
By David Oxford
If you're old enough to remember the heyday of arcades and SEGA's participation in the home console market as a platform holder, rather than a third party, then you may remember After Burner, the game which placed you right in the cockpit of a fighter jet as you engaged the enemy with machine guns and missile fire. This port of 2006's After Burner Climax leaves the rotating cockpit in the arcade, and unfortunately, that's not all it left behind.Kingdom Conquest II Review
By Nick Tylwalk
Developers are getting quite good at giving us more in our mobile games, whether its higher production values, deeper gameplay or multiple genres mashed together. That doesn't always mean that more is better, though, which is why Kingdom Conquest II is so frustrating. Despite its noble attempt to combine an action RPG, a city builder and a card game on your iOS device, the end result is too muddled to call a real success.Kingdom Conquest II Preview
By Nadia Oxford
So you did a little kingdom-conquering in 2010's Kingdom Conquest, eh? You sure you conquered everything, though? Maybe you missed a spot. Maybe you overlooked some peasant cowering in the corner of a mud hut. No, huh? Well then, you're ready for Kingdom Conquest II, Sega's follow-up adventure/RPG for iOS.Spellwood Review
By Andy Chalk
Spellwood is set in a magical, wooded realm populated by all sorts of wonderful creatures, many of whom are kindly wizards. It's no surprise that it's also the home of the Spellwood Academy of Word Wizards, from which you, at the beginning of the game, are just about to graduate. But before you do, you'll have to defeat three of your fellow students plus the Headmaster himself, a wise old owl who does his best to teach you all you'll need to know before you set out on your journey.Sonic Jump Review
By Jim Squires
"Oh look, SEGA decided to make a Sonic Doodle Jump clone three years after anyone would care." If that's what you're thinking, it's ok - nobody would blame you. The gut reaction to Sonic Jump is a tough pill to swallow. And when you hear that it's actually affiliated with a mobile game that predates smartphones, well… that doesn't make things any easier. Ignore these initial warning signs though, and what you find might just surprise you.Crazy Taxi Review
By Jim Squires
Crazy Taxi is a game that's always held a special place in my heart. When people talk about the frenzied, accessible gameplay of days gone by, my mind often goes to the days I'd plunk quarter after quarter into Crazy Taxi at the arcades. Then later, I'd sink hour after hour into the Dreamcast release. Even as recently as Steam's Big Picture release last month, I found myself getting back behind the wheel of a taxi cab. So when SEGA tipped us off about an iOS release, you'd better believe I jumped at the chance to check it out.Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit Review
Let's get one thing straight: I'm not anti-rabbit. I simply don't agree with Proposition 415's plan to legalize rabbit-sized weapons of mass destruction and outfit our furry friends with them in case they need to go on bloody revenge sprees. If Jazz Jackrabbit v Tortoises Everywhere wasn't support enough, I suggest you review the more recent file on Prince Ash v The Monsters of Hell, codenamed Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit.Zaxxon Escape Review
By Dant Rambo
For one reason or another, a lot of developers have tried to turn classic games into endless runners recently. I noticed it first with Circus Atari (okay, so that one's more of an endless ascension game) and Pitfall!, but Zaxxon Escape is yet another fine example. It adheres to the (admittedly threadbare) canon of the original, but drops just about everything else. Arcade nuts, this is not the nostalgia boost you've been looking for.
