Skipping Stone Review
Skipping Stone is the latest in Gamevil's line-up of nefariously addictive games. It may also be the first title within the company's stable to feature an anthropomorphic stone. That's right. Not only does the titular character have an expressive face, it also sports arms and a skeletal structure: something I found both strangely adorable and rather disturbing. Unusual protagonist aside, the basic conceit here is simple: get the stone as far as it can go.Baseball Superstars II Review
By David Stone
This is the worst kind of review to do. On paper, a game does just about everything right. But one or two big details bring the entire experience down from what it should be. Baseball Superstars II fits this to a T. It's got everything going for it, but is marred by a couple of major issues. I really wanted to like this game more than I did.Zenonia 3 Review
Being an orphan is tough: you just can't catch a break. When you're growing up, you have to put up with endless abuse from the local bullies. Then, it always turns out that you're destined to save the world. It's just work, work, work. Chael, the star of Zenonia 3, has to deal with all of this, but it also turns out that he's the heir to a heroic dynasty. Like its predecessors, the game is a lot of fun, but the series is starting to reach the point where it feels a little redundant.Air Penguin Review
As of late it seems that birds have been in the forefront of the mobile market, with Angry Birds and Tiny Wings soaring high above the competition. The question now is whether their waterlogged cousins will meet with similar success. Air Penguin definitely makes me think so.Kami Retro Review
At this point the term "retro" has lost all applicable meaning, kinda like "HD." Nowadays anything with chunky square graphics is considered retro no matter what the gameplay elements are. I tend to attribute the term retro not so much to games that look like older titles but rather games that PLAY like older titles. Kami Retro has glimpses of these elements, but trades more on its main character being square than it does in old school gameplay.Illusia Review
Illusia is the kind of game you desperately want to love. It looks simply adorable, with a charming retro art style, and there's some solid RPG mechanics that offer plenty of depth. But the game fights with you virtually every step of the way, marring what would otherwise be an excellent experience, thanks to some terrible menus, controls, writing, and level design.Zenonia 2: The Lost Memories Review
By Jim Squires
When the original Zenonia hit the iPhone last year, it was the type of action-RPG experience that old school gamers would die for. It was also, by and large, the only game of its kind on the popular portable. But in the last 10 months role-playing games have carved a name for themselves on the device, with everything from Across Age to Final Fantasy vying for the dollars of portable gamers. Instead of banking its success on the trailblazing nature of its predecessor, Zenonia 2 needed to find a way to stand out from the crowd if it wanted to wow us like the first one did - but it was a task that proved too great.Zenonia Review
By Jim Squires
When the term "retro gaming" comes up it's easy to think of arcade classics like Pac-Man or Donkey Kong, but let's not forget that the 1990s were also the golden age of action-RPGs (role-playing games) like The Legend of Zelda. GAMEVIL's Zenonia follows in the footsteps this tradition as you pick up the blade of a young man named Regret.
