Epic Raiders Review
Epic Raiders is an RPG battle arena in which players form parties of up to four fantasy archetypes, then go head-to-head with monsters and each other on single-screen, 2D battlegrounds. It's cute, but it's not very engaging, and suffers from some pronounced control issues that are likely to leave players frustrated and bored in fairly short order.

I'm not a soccer fan myself, so my vague hope was that Soccer Superstars 2012 would keep it simple. Some running, some kicking of the ball, and maybe the option to spend a bit of money to make the goalie a little less useless. But no such luck. I knew I was in deep when the tutorial went on, and on, and on... and on. Not unnecessarily, mind you, and it wasn't digging down into the nitty-gritty details by any measure. There's just that much material to cover.

I never was much of a Magic: The Gathering player, but I've played enough to know that the appeal of the collectible card game genre lies in the cards themselves. Many videogame developers seem to miss this point. Maybe their goal is to attract new players, maybe it's to provide something that differentiates their project from the growing morass of battle card games across all platforms, but all too often they mix in flashy minigames and other froufrou that only detracts from the experience.

I'm not a big fan of fishing. It's messy, it's dull and it's a lot of work. That's where Fishing Superstars comes in: It's a surprisingly complex and exciting fishing simulator, and if's not quite like being there, that's probably a good thing.
Punch Hero Review
Ah, boxing. The grunts of modern gladiators, the smack of blood hitting the canvas, the crunch of breaking cartilage—will not be found in Punch Hero for iOS. Gamevil's boxing title doesn't offer a very serious take on the sport, but it also doesn't wallow in the goofy, simple fun that was achieved by Nintendo's Punch-Out!! a full 28 years ago. The constant hocking of in-app purchases doesn't exactly lend the game a sporting atmosphere, either.

Sometimes in life it is easy to focus a bit too much on grander ideas and let the simple ones pass you by. Illusia II is a game that is guilty of this. While there are a few neat gameplay elements on display, things that shouldn't be an after-thought, like navigation and movement, are left in the lurch. The result is massive amounts of frustration, followed by anger and disgust.
