The Sims FreePlay Review
Somewhere between the The Sims and The Sims Online, way back at the turn of the century, Maxis announced a little game called SimsVille. It was, at the time, to be the next iteration of The Sims franchise and would let players control a multitude of families that all made up a single neighbourhood. The game was scrapped, and while most of its elements turned up in either The Sims 2 or SimCity 4, nothing ever really "felt" like what I expected SimsVille to feel like. Not until now.
TETRIS Review
Telling me that someone's made fundamental changes to Tetris is likely to make me black out in anger. It's such a stalwart game and an institution that mucking around with it would be akin to colorizing Citizen Kane or changing Star Wars (ok, bad example). But truth be told, Tetris' earlier move to touch devices hadn't exactly been smooth, and changes were needed to make it enjoyable. This latest version succeeds enormously on that front, though with a huge caveat.
Road Trippin’ Review
Games can be designed around virtually anything, and this time around, Electronic Arts is creating one about road trips. The iOS app is entitled Road Trippin', and believe it or not, it's actually a bit of an educational game. Most closely resembling the social game genre in terms of its mechanics, the game tasks players with traveling around the United States and visiting hundreds of different cities in the process.
