Late last year, developer Boss Baddie released Big Sky into the wild, an initially confusing space shooter that, through progression, trial and error, showed its true, magnificent colours. While it was definitely something special, there was always that nagging feeling in the back of our minds that so much more could be done with it. Enter Really Big Sky, an expansion on the original concept that piles on the explosions, powers and extra game modes to maximum effect.
With the likes of Lunnye Devitsy and Wake under its belt, developer Boss Baddie has a lot to live up to. After such unique and interesting releases, the team of two has decided the next best step is to create a space shooter. It seems like a rather odd direction, but we were intrigued to see how they'd work their magic on the tired genre.
Awaking to find yourself at the bottom of a sinking freighter is the stuff nightmares are made of, which is why Boss Baddie's latest offering Wake is simply teeming with fear-driven tension. With water lashing at your feet and rising fast, you'll want to move towards the top of the ship post-haste.
It was just over 40 years ago that the first human set foot on the moon. Yet while it was "one small step for man", the little alien in Boss Baddie's Lunnye Devitsy needs "one giant leap" to get back to where it belongs.
