We've role-played fantasy worlds to death. Been there, slain that. What we haven't done nearly as much is explore real life settings, which can be plenty compelling in their own right. Expeditions: Conquistador by Logic Artists is here to help us rectify that, by allowing players to head up voyages to the New World of the 16th Century. Adventure, turn-based combat, intrigue, and a chance at fame and fortune are waiting.
I like a good fantasy role-playing game as much as anyone, but sometimes you just get that craving for a different setting. Like, any other setting. And while there are alternatives out there, not many involve leading a group of explorers through the New World of the 16th Century. Expeditions: Conquistador will do just that come May 30, turning the search for El Dorado into a tactical RPG for PC, Mac or Linux computers.
Stop me if you've heard any of this before. Elves, humans, and dwarves are in a life-or-death struggle against orcs, goblins and the undead. I assume you stopped me.Sarcasm aside, I should be fair. Faulting a high-fantasy game for having the trappings of high fantasy is like faulting a puzzle game for having puzzles in it. I for one like elves, dwarves, orcs and goblins. Like so many others, I grew up on a steady diet of fantasy. If it's wrong to battle skeletons with an elven mage, then I don't want to be right.
